INT. KAVERI'S HOME BATHROOM - DAY

A close up of a pair of eyes. As we push back we see Kaveri, a lady in her mid twenties sitting and looking right at us. She is sweating/stressed, sad and depressed. She looks at the door, outside of which, someone is knocking. She then looks down at her right hand. We see her holding a sharp & shining knife. As the door knocks, which were distant, come back to normal and get really loud, she holds the knife up and directs it to her stomach. Just before the knife goes in--

We hear the Bustling traffic of Bengaluru in the night

FADE IN

EXT. BANGALORE - DAY

We establish the city of Bangalore in an aerial shot.

INT. HOSPITAL - DAY

We establish a big Hospital Building.

INT. HOSPITAL ALLEY - DAY

We are following a doctor with a report in his hand as he is walking through the alley.

CUT TO

INT. DOCTOR'S CABIN - DAY

Sathish, a handsome man in his early thirties is waiting at the Doctor's desk. He is down and sad as well as exhausted. He gets up as the Doctor walks in and greets him. Both take their seats.

DOCTOR

Two inches below the heart.. She is out of danger..

(Looking into the file)

FIR File ಅಗಿತ್ತು.. Section 309.. ನಾನು ಮಾತಾಡಿದಿನಿ.. Mental illness history ಇರೊ ಅಂಥವರಿಗೆ.. Exemption ಇದೆ.. However..

(As he tears a small sheet of paper and writes something on it)

ಆದಷ್ಟು ಬೇಗ.. ಈ Government Appointed Psychiatrist ಹತ್ರ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೆಂಡತಿನಾ ಕರ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗ್ಬೇಕು..

(As he hands over the sheet of paper to Sathish)

& THIS TIME.. ಯಾವಾಗ discharge ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನೊ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ.. ಅವರದ್ದಾಗಿರತ್ತೆ..

Sathish is looking down at the sheet of paper given to him.

DOCTOR

(Looking at Sathish not raising his head)

Call him..

Sathish now raises his head and looks helplessly at the Doctor.

We see Sathish Driving the car. He keeps an eye on Kaveri, who is on the front passenger seat. She is in her own world and seems to be lost looking outside the window.

PSYCHIATRIST (ON PHONE/VO)

ಇತ್ತೀಚಿನ ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಜೀವನದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಬೀರಿರೊ ಅಂತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳು.. ಸ್ನೆಹಿತರು, ಬಂಧು ಬಳಗ.. ಯಾರಾದ್ರು ಪರ್ವಾಗಿಲ್ಲ.. Vimalaಗು Sathishಗು ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಇರೊ ಅನೈತಿಕ ಸಂಬಂಧದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನನಗೆ ಆಗ ತಾನೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಿತ್ತು.. I went into depression.. ಅವಳು Sathishನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಅಂತ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ದೆ affair ವಿಷಯನ ಅವಳ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹೇಳ್ಕೊಂಡೆ.. She broke down.. ಅವಳನ್ನ console ಮಾಡ್ತ.. ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಹತ್ತಿರವಾದೆ..

ಮದುವೆ ಆಗಿ ಒಂದುವರೆ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ.. She had a miscarriage.. ಆ ಘಟನೆಯ ನಂತರ ಅವಳ ನಡವಳಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಬದಲಾವಣೆ ಕಾಣಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಶುರು ಆಯ್ತು.. ಆಗ ಅವಳನ್ನ treat ಮಾಡ್ತ ಇದ್ದ Doctor.. 'Clozapine' prescribe ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು..

Didn't help.. ಅವಳ ನಡವಳಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು disturbing ಆಗ್ತ ಹೋಯಿತು.. ಕಟ್ಕೊಂಡ್ ಹೆಂಡ್ತಿ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಇದ್ದರು.. ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬಳು ಹುಡುಗಿ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋಗೋದಕ್ಕೆ..

(Hesitantly)

We see Kaveri. She doesn't say a word and is just looking at us.

(Hesitantly stammering)

She had a rough childhood..

(Continues with the same hesitation)

ಅವಳ ಬಾಲ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಕೆಲುವು ಘಟನೆಗಳು--

Sathish goes quite unable to complete what he intended to say and the Psychiatrist gets it.

We are looking at Kaveri. She has a blank expression on her face.

PSYCHIATRIST (OFF SCREEN)

(Trying to make Kaveri talk)

Kaveri.. I am trying to help you.. ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಳಿ.. You have to open up..

Kaveri does not care. With the same blank expression she is looking at the Psychiatrist as if she is not able to hear him.

Sathish is looking at the Psychiatrist with a miserable expression on his face.

SATHISH

ಮುಂದೆ ಹೇಗೆ Doctor??

PSYCHIATRIST (OFF SCREEN)

ಮಾತಾಡೊದಕ್ಕೆ hesitate ಮಾಡೊ ಅಂಥ Patientಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ನಾವು ಇದನ್ನ Test ಮಾಡ್ತ ಇದಿವಿ.. ಮೂರು ಜನ Patientsಗೆ ಇದು help ಆಗಿದೆ ಕೂಡ.. It's a form of visual psychodrama.. She has to be admitted.. Beginning of every week.. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಹೊಸ ಖಾಲಿ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಕೊಟ್ಟು.. ಅವರ ಯೊಚನೆಗಳನ್ನ.. ಅಂದರೆ.. Any random thoughts/Sketches.. Scribble ಮಾಡೊದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೇಳ್ತಿವಿ.. End of the week.. ಅದನ್ನ decode ಮಾಡೊದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಪಡ್ತಿವಿ.. ಎರಡು ಮೂರು ವಾರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ.. ನಮಗೆ ಒಂದು clarity ಸಿಗುತ್ತೆ.. Based on that.. Patientನ ಯಾವ ರೀತಿ Treatmentಗೆ enroll ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಅಂತ decide ಮಾಡ್ತಿವಿ..

(As he slides a form to Sathish)

Sathish glances at the form. He takes a pen. In a close up we see him put his signature.

We hear the song 'ಕಥೆ ಹೇಳುವೆ ನನ್ನ ಕಥೆ ಹೇಳುವೆ..' from the Film 'ನಾಗಹಾವು' playing on a radio at a low volume.

INT. DIRECTOR'S OFFICE LOBBY - DAY

As the song continues in the background, we are looking at a Huge Poster of the Film SHUDDHI on the wall. We then see Kaveri, an Actress in her early twenties looking at us. We later reveal her looking at the Poster.

Kaveri looks back.

INT. DIRECTOR'S OFFICE - DAY

Adarsh Eshwarappa, a Writer/Director in his early thirties is seated on his luxurious chair. He is sipping a hot cup of coffee. Kaveri is seated opposite to him and she is drinking Green Tea.

(Sipping his cup of coffee)

ಕಲಾಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮದೊಂದು ನಾಟಕ ನೋಡಿದ್ದೆ..

(Tries recalling the name)

(Sipping her cup of Tea, Instantly responds with a smile)

I am a solo traveler. ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಎರಡು ಮೂರು ಸರ್ತಿ ಈ ಥರ ಹೊಸ ಜಾಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗ್ತ ಇರ್ತಿನಿ.. You should try.. ಸಕ್ಕತ್ತು ನೆಮ್ಮದಿ ಸಿಗುತ್ತೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ.. Away from all the chaos..

We are looking at the bag, with the script lying on front passenger seat in the car. We pan and tilt up to look at Kaveri driving the car.

We are inside and looking at the main door. The door opens and Kaveri enters. She shuts the door.

We are looking at a Book with the cover reading, 'Return from Madness'. We tilt up to look at Kaveri immersed in the Book. She flips the page and keeps a book mark. She keeps the book back on the table.

ಇವತ್ತು ಮನೇಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಾ ಇಲ್ಲ.. Friend ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ Invite ಮಾಡಿದಳೆ..

Kaveri is quiet. She does not respond.

MAN (ON PHONE)

Hello ??

Kaveri hangs up the call.

She opens the medical cabinet and picks a Tablet box & looks at it. In a Close up we see it reading 'Clozapine'.

CUT TO

Kaveri pops a few tablets and drinks a glass of water.

CUT TO

We see a few Nature Photos on a DSLR Camera display slide across. We then see some candid Photos of Sathish in the same lot.

We see Kaveri turn the camera off with a sad/angry face & keep the DSLR Camera into it's bag. Kaveri is walking around the room packing her Backpack.

We hear a phone ring.

Kaveri walks to a table on which her phone is lying. There is a little irritation on her face after which she picks the call with a fake smile. We hear the Song 'ವಿರಹ' from 'ಎಡಕಲ್ಲು ಗುಡ್ಡದ ಮೇಲೆ' playing on a radio in the background, on the call.

KAVERI

(Teasing)

ಹೊಸ ಮನೆ.. ಹೆಂಡ್ತಿ ಬೇರೆ ಊರಿಂದ ಬಂದಿದಳೆ.. ನನ್ನ ಮರೆತೆಹೋಗಿದ್ಯ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತೆ..

MAN

(On Phone)

Another solo trip huh..?? ಏನು ಮಾಡ್ತಿಯ ಮೂರು ದಿವಸ??

May be some hiking.. ಹಾಗೆ Script ಓದಿ ಮುಗಿಸೋಣ ಅಂತ.. ಮುಂದಿನ ವಾರ Workshop ಅಂತ ಹೇಳ್ತ ಇದ್ದರು Director..

MAN

(On Phone)

ಹಾಂ.. ನನಗೆ ಇನ್ನು ಓದಕ್ಕೆ ಟೈಂ ಆಗಿಲ್ಲ ಕಣೆ..

KAVERI

(Not surprised)

I thought as much..

(Holding a clock & setting the alarm)

ಸರಿ.. ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಬೇಗ ಏಳಬೇಕು.. ನಾಳೆ phone ಮಾಡ್ತಿನಿ..

MAN

(On Phone)

(Almost done setting the alarm nods her head with a half hearted smile)

Take care..

Kaveri cuts the call and keeps the clock next to her bed.

We hear a loud alarm.

INT. KAVERI'S ROOM - DAY

We see the clock showing 5.00 AM. As we slowly zoom out, we see Kaveri's hand stop the alarm. Kaveri wakes up and sits at the edge of her bed forcing her eyes to open.

INT. KAVERI'S HOME KITCHEN - DAY

We see a Green Tea Bag put into a glass of water.

CUT TO

INT. KAVERI'S HOME KITCHEN (SHOT INSIDE OVEN) - DAY

We are inside a Microwave Oven. The door opens and we see Kaveri placing a cup of water with green tea bag, into the Oven.

INT. KAVERI'S HOME KITCHEN - DAY

We see Kaveri close the Oven door. We are now looking only at her eyes over the Oven as she is bent over waiting for the Tea to boil. We see the Kitchen door exit over Kaveri's head and it is out of focus.

We are looking at Kaveri from the Exit door of the Kitchen from a wide angle. The Oven timer is still counting down. Kaveri stands up straight and looks back towards the kitchen exit half heartedly, as if, someone is at the exit watching her.

We hear water gushing out of a shower head.

INT. KAVERI'S HOME BATHROOM - DAY

We see hot water gushing out of the shower head. The water stops.

INT. KAVERI'S ROOM - DAY

We are looking at Kaveri's Tracks, T Shirt & a Jacket lying on the bed. Kaveri has just stepped out of the bathroom, with a towel wrapped around her body & is looking at her Tracks, T Shirt & Jacket, as she is drying her hair with another Towel.

We hear the door open.

INT. KAVERI'S HOME - DAY

We are inside the house again, looking at the Main door being opened by Kaveri. She steps out and locks the door from outside.

A BGM begins overlapping with the reverb of the door close.

EXT. BANGALORE CITY LIMITS - DAY

We are looking at a Number Plate of a Royal Enfield Bike. The number reads 'KA-01 PK 12/1933'.

We tilt up to reveal the back of a rider wearing a Jacket with a Quote 'Doors are going to open. Doors you can't even Imagine exist'. The Bike is traveling at a steady speed.

From a wider angle, we are following Kaveri as she rides into Darkness (Into an underpass).

CUT TO

We are now ahead of Kaveri, but facing her, looking at her exit out of the underpass, into light. We are moving back at the same speed.

Kaveri zips past us at a good speed.

EXT. HASSAN TOLL ROAD - DAY

EXT. FRONT OF ESTATE OWNER'S HOUSE (EDAKALLU) - DAY

We now see the bike parked on the side of a deserted road amidst coffee plantations in front of a huge house. Kaveri is on the Bike and seems to be waiting for someone.

We see a local village guy open the gate of the house, Kaveri is waiting in front of. He hands over the keys to her and directs her towards the path leading to the cottage.

Kaveri rides off towards the path leading to the Cottage.

EXT. EDAKALLU ESTATE ROAD - DAY

On a muddy road amidst thick greenery, Kaveri rides past us.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE - DAY

As the music gradually fades out, we see Kaveri ride in and park the Bike, in front of the Cottage. She gets down and stands right in front of the house looking at the structure.

[We are looking at her from inside the house through the arrow design window grill (This can be executed only if there is a window facing the door entrance)]

We hear a bag unzip

A close up of the DSLR camera being taken out of the Camera bag.

We are looking at Kaveri who is in turn facing the house. We see her point the camera at us (At the house) and click a photo.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - DAY

We are looking at a beautiful painting of a Black Bird in a cage as we hear a Lady talking on the phone.

LADY (ON PHONE)

Sir ಊರಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ ಮೇಡಮ್.. ಅವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಮುಂಚೇನೆ ಹೇಳಿರಬೇಕು.. ನಾವು food service provide ಮಾಡೋದಿಲ್ಲ..

We are looking at Kaveri who seems to be gazing at the Painting.

KAVERI

(Looking at the painting/at us)

ಆ ವಿಷಯ ಗೊತ್ತು.. ಆದ್ರೆ.. Atleast ಇವತ್ತಿಗೆ.. Order ಮಾಡಿದ್ರೆ ತಂದುಕೊಡೋದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾರದರು ಇರ್ತರೆ ಅನ್ಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೆ..

LADY (ON PHONE)

Sorry Madam.. ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಥರ service ಇಲ್ಲ..

We are looking at the painting much closely than before.

LADY (ON PHONE)

It's a fully furnished Cottage.. ಅಡುಗೆಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದಂಥ ಎಲ್ಲ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು stock ಮಾಡಿದಿವಿ.. ನೀವೆ cook ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಬೇಕು..

There is a moment of silence as we are now looking at Kaveri much closely than before.

LADY (ON PHONE)

(Totally immersed in the painting)

LADY (ON PHONE)

(Takes a moment)

ರಾತ್ರಿ ಹೊತ್ತು Doorನ.. ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಬಿಗಿಯಾಗಿ lock ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಂಡು ಮಲ್ಕೊಳಿ..

We are looking at Kaveri gazing at the painting and she doesn't say a word.

After a few moments of quietness the song 'ಬಂಧನ.. ಶರಪಂಜರದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂಧನ..' from Film 'ಶರಪಂಜರ' kicks in.

EXT. SKY - DAY

A close shot of Moon in the sky.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - DAY

We hear the song continue with a close up of all the locks on the Main Door being secured. We hear a radio static after an abrupt end to the song.

We see Kaveri trying hard to make an Old big Radio on the corner work. She tries tuning it and plays with the Volume. She also taps on it. The static ends and the Radio goes off. The Radio does not seem to be receiving any power. She gives up and looks at the Study table. She walks towards the Study table.

In a Top angle shot of the Study table on which we see the Red Binded Book/Script, Adarsh handed over to Kaveri, she walks in. She sits at the table, opens the Red Binded Book and starts reading. The credits begin on black screen with the Mild BGM ascending and getting louder.

Mohan (The same person talking to psychiatrist in the Film Opening) a man in his early thirties, opens the Boot of the car. He is looking at us.

FEMALE VOICE (OS)

Mohan

Mohan looks in the direction of the Voice.

MOHAN

(Raised voice and a slightly irritated tone)

ಬಂದೆ..

Mohan looks towards us again.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - DAY

We see a pair of hands place a Cardboard Box on a table. We tilt up to reveal Mohan unpacking the Box.

Mohan is looking at, what looks like a big Photo frame in his hands, which he would have taken out of the box.

LADY (OS)

(Wiping the dust on the vase)

ಈ ಮನೆ shift ಮಾಡೊ ಅಷ್ಟು stressful ಕೆಲಸ ಇನ್ನೊಂದಿಲ್ಲ..

Mohan looks in the direction of the voice. We see Vimala (The same person talking to psychiatrist in the Film Opening) a Lady in her mid twenties, wiping a flower vase with a cloth. There are a few more similar unpacked boxes lying on the floor.

MOHAN

(Looking at the Frame)

I love the House..

As he walks off we see Vimala go quiet.

VIMALA

(Trying to make up for what she said before)

ನನಗು ಇಷ್ಟ ಆಯ್ತು.. It's very peaceful..

We see Mohan putting the Frame up on a wall. We still do not see what it is.

MOHAN

(As he finishes putting the frame on the wall)

Of course..

(Looking at the painting as he walks back)

Beautiful isn't it??

We now look at what is on the wall. It is the same painting which Kaveri would have seen in the Cottage.

We then see Vimala join Mohan and both are looking at the painting now.

VIMALA

(As she joins Mohan and looks at the painting)

ಅಷ್ಟೆ ನಿಗೂಢವಾಗಿ ಇದೆ..

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

We are now looking at the same painting and then look at Kaveri. She is lost.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - DAY

We are looking at the painting over the shoulders of Mohan and Vimala.

VIMALA

(Still looking at the painting)

ಸತೀಶ Dinnerಗೆ ಬರ್ತನೆ..

We hear the calling bell. Mohan immediately looks at Vimala.

MOHAN

(Looking at Vimala)

Oh.. Think of the Devil..

We are looking at Vimala's 'Not so happy' face as Mohan walks off.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE DOOR - DAY

The door opens and we see Mohan looking straight at Sathish(us) whom we do not reveal.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - DAY

We are watching the scene in which, Madhavi's character is scrubbing the back of Nanjunda's character from the Film 'ಎಡಕಲ್ಲು ಗುಡ್ಡದ ಮೇಲೆ' on Television.

Mohan is sitting alone and watching the Television. He looks towards the open kitchen where Sathish (The same person talking to psychiatrist in the Film Opening) is at the stove cooking and Vimala is standing behind him helping. Mohan switches off the Television.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE OPEN KITCHEN - DAY

Sathish is frying something on a pan & Vimala is standing next to him ready to help.

VIMALA

ಹೇಗ್ ಬಂದೆ???

SATHISH

(Sarcastically)

ಹಾ.. Metro Station ಪಕ್ಕಾನೆ ಮನೆ ಮಾಡಿದಿರ..

VIMALA

Shut up..

SATHISH

I drove all the way..

(Continues to cook)

ಅಲ್ಲ City ಇಂದ ಇಷ್ಟು ದೂರ Shift ಆಗೊ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆ ಏನಿತ್ತು ಅಂತ??

VIMALA

I don't have a clue.. ಯಾರೋ ತಲೆ ಕೆಡಿಸಿದರೆ.. ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ನೆಮ್ಮದಿ ಬೇಕಂತೆ..

(Teasingly)

Away from all the chaos..

SATHISH

(Laughs sarcastically)

ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಉಪ್ಪು ತಗೊ..

MOHAN (OS)

Devaki ಯಾಕ್ ಬರ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ ???

Sathish looks at Mohan standing outside the Kitchen and so does Vimala, as she takes the salt bottle from a shelf.

SATHISH

(As he goes back to frying)

ಅದೊಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಥೆ..

MOHAN

(Instantly reacts with a sarcastic smile)

I am curios..

Sathish turns off the stove and starts with the story, first looking at Vimala.

SATHISH

(Looking at Vimala)

ಈಗ ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷದ್ ಹಿಂದೆ.. ನಾನು ಬರೆದಿರೋ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೈದನೆ ನಾಟಕದ ಶೋ.. Londonಅಲ್ಲಿ ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದರು.. ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ಈ ನಟನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕೇಳ್ಪಟ್ಟೆ..

(Turning towards Mohan)

ತುಂಬಾ ಜನಕ್ಕೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿರ್ಲಿಕ್ಕಿಲ್ಲ ಈತನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ..

(Stammering)

MOHAN

(Completes the name with a straight face)

Sathish takes a moment to look at Mohan and turns towards Vimala again.

SATHISH

(Turning towards Vimala)

ಆತ ಹೇಗೆ ಅಂದರೆ.. ಒಂದು ಸಿನಿಮಾಗೆ ಸಹಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ಮೇಲೆ.. ಚಿತ್ರೀಕರಣ ಶುರು ಆಗೋದಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಂಚೆ.. ತಾನು ನಿಭಾಯಿಸುತ್ತ ಇರೋ ಪಾತ್ರದ ಒಳಗೆ ಹೊಕ್ಕರೆ.. ಮತ್ತೆ ಅದು ಮುಗಿಯೊವರೆಗು ಆಚೆ ಬರೋದಿಲ್ಲವಂತೆ.. ಮನೇನಲ್ಲು ಕೂಡ ಆ ಪಾತ್ರದ ಹಾಗೆ ವರ್ತಿಸುತ್ತಾನಂತೆ..

(Looking at Mohan)

ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿನ ಯಾಕೆ ಕರ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂತ ಕೇಳ್ದಲ್ಲ..

(Talking to Vimala again and pointing at himself & Mohan)

ಈಗ ನಾನು, ಇವನು, Devaki ಅಮೇಲೆ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬಳು ಹೊಸ ನಟಿ.. ಒಂದು ಸಿನಿಮಾಗೆ ಸಹಿ ಮಾಡಿದಿವಿ.. ಮುಂದಿನ ತಿಂಗಳು ಚಿತ್ರೀಕರಣ ಶುರು..

(Looking at Mohan again)

ಹೇಳಿರ್ಬೇಕಲ್ಲ..

Vimala instantly gives a hard look at Mohan. Mohan bends his head since he wouldn't have told Vimala about this.

MOHAN

(With his head bent)

ಈಗ ತಾನೆ ಊರಿಂದ ಬಂದಿದಿಯ.. I wanted you to relax..

There is a moment of silence and Sathish breaks it.

SATHISH

(With an Innocent look)

ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಲ??

Vimala switches her look from Mohan to Sathish.

SATHISH

(Continues)

The next moment, Sathish's phone in his pocket rings, as he gets a call. He looks at the display & picks the call.

INT. DEVAKI'S HOUSE - DAY

In a Dark Room, we hear an Audio from the scene in which the Character of Kaveri from Sharapanjara, is going crazy in the final moments of the Film. We see Devaki, a Girl in her Mid Twenties, watching the Film on a Laptop in an extreme wide shot. We do not reveal her identity clearly.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE OPEN KITCHEN - NIGHT

SATHISH

Hello.. Hello..

Sathish turns on the Speaker on his cell phone and keeps the phone on the Kitchen table for Mohan and Vimala to hear. The Audio from the scene of Sharapanjara continues to play. Both Mohan and Vimala are curiously looking at the Phone.

INT. DEVAKI'S HOUSE - NIGHT

We see Devaki's eyes over the Laptop lid. We see the reflection of the visuals from the Film in Devaki's eyes and hear the audio. As the scene ends--

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE OPEN KITCHEN - NIGHT

We hear Devaki's voice--

DEVAKI (ON PHONE)

(Sweet tone)

Hello.. ಏನ್ರಿ Phone ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು??

SATHISH

(Irritated)

ನಾನೆಲ್ಲೆ phone ಮಾಡಿದೆ?? ನೀನು ತಾನೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು???

There is no response and we just hear Devaki Breathing.

SATHISH

Hello ??

DEVAKI (ON PHONE)

(Rude tone)

ಈಗ ಎಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಿಯಾ??

Sathish takes a moment to look at Mohan and Vimala, indicating the change in Devaki's tone.

SATHISH

ನಾನು Vimala ಮನೇಗೆ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದೆ..

DEVAKI (ON PHONE)

(Raises her voice)

ನನ್ನನ್ನ ಯಾಕೆ ಕರಿಲಿಲ್ಲ????

Mohan is looking straight at Sathish and Vimala looks away from Mohan pretending to be doing something as she unscrews the lid of the salt box. Sathish picks the phone and turns off the speaker.

SATHISH

(Hesitantly Stammering)

ನಾನು ಕರೆದೆನಲ್ಲೆ.. ನೀನೆ ತಾನೆ ಬರೋದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದಿದ್ದು???

There is a moment of silence.

SATHISH

Hello??

The call gets disconnected. An uncomfortable silence prevails, as Sathish avoids eye contact with Mohan and puts the phone back in his pocket. Vimala hands over the salt box to Sathish.

VIMALA

(Handing over the Salt)

ಬೇರೆ ಏನಾದರು ಬೇಕ??

Sathish nods his head with a 'No' as he takes the box and keeps it next to the stove. He turns the stove on and waits. Mohan is just looking at the two of them.

MOHAN

(Interrupting the silence)

I need a drink..

(As Sathish looks at him)

ಏನು ತಗೋತೀಯ??

SATHISH

(Hesitantly)

Whiskey..

Mohan shifts his look to Vimala.

VIMALA

(Instantly responds)

I am fine..

MOHAN

(As he picks the keys on the kitchen table)

ಆಚೆ ಹೋಗಿ ತಗೊಂಡುಬರಬೇಕು.. ಅರ್ಧ ಮುಕ್ಕಾಲು ಘಂಟೆ ಆಗುತ್ತೆ..

(Looks back after taking a few steps with a sarcastic smile)

Have FUN..

Mohan walks off and we hear the door shut. There is another moment of silence between Sathish and Vimala.

SATHISH

(Imitating Mohan)

ಈಗ ತಾನೆ ಊರಿಂದ ಬಂದಿದಿಯ.. I wanted you to relax..

Both Vimala and Sathish break into a laughter and gradually go quiet.

VIMALA

(With a Seductive look and tone)

ಮತ್ತೆ..??

SATHISH

(Seduced look and tone)

ಹೇಳು..

We are looking at Vimala more closely and then switch to a close up of Sathish, during which the song 'ವಿರಹ' from 'ಎಡಕಲ್ಲು ಗುಡ್ಡದ ಮೇಲೆ' plays.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S CAR - DAY

The same song is playing on the radio. Mohan is driving. He wears his hands free and makes a call. The call gets picked & we hear a lady speak on the other line.

LADY (ON PHONE)

(Teasing)

ಹೊಸ ಮನೆ.. ಹೆಂಡ್ತಿ ಬೇರೆ ಊರಿಂದ ಬಂದಿದಳೆ.. ನನ್ನ ಮರೆತೆಹೋಗಿದ್ಯ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತೆ..

MOHAN

ಹಾಗ್ ಅನ್ನಬೇಡವೆ.. You know how much I miss you.. ಹಾಡು ಕೇಳಿಸ್ತ ಇದಿಯಾ??

LADY (ON PHONE)

(Chuckles)

MOHAN

ಹಾಂ.. ನನಗೆ ಇನ್ನು ಓದಕ್ಕೆ ಟೈಂ ಆಗಿಲ್ಲ ಕಣೆ..

LADY (ON PHONE)

(Takes a moment)

ಸರಿ.. ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಬೇಗ ಏಳಬೇಕು.. ನಾಳೆ phone ಮಾಡ್ತಿನಿ..

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

We see Kaveri's hands close the Script with a 'thud', in profile. We tilt up to see her breathing a little heavily.

OUT OF THE BLUE, THE CONTINUATION OF THE SONG 'ವಿರಹ' PLAYS AT FULL VOLUME ON THE OLD RADIO LYING IN THE CORNER.

Kaveri who is already clueless, gets up from the chair and rushes towards the Radio. She instantly unplugs the power to the Radio & the cottage turns to dead silence.

After a few seconds, she plugs the Radio back in and tunes it. The Song 'Gundina Matte' from 'Edakallu Guddada Mele' starts playing. She turns the radio off.

CUT TO

Kaveri picks her phone lying on the table and makes a call to Mohan. The call gets picked. She is hearing the same song in the background.

MOHAN (ON PHONE)

Hey Baby

KAVERI

(Very curious tone)

ಏನು ಮಾಡ್ತ ಇದಿಯಾ??

INT. MOHAN'S CAR - DAY

As the song plays in the background--

MOHAN

I am driving.. ಯಾಕೆ??

KAVERI (ON PHONE)

Script ಓದಿ ಆಯ್ತ..??

Mohan is taken aback a little by the seriousness in Kaveri's tone.

MOHAN

ಹೇಳಿದ್ನಲ್ಲ ಇನ್ನೂ ಓದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂತ.. ಯಾಕ್ ಮತ್ತೆ ಕೇಳ್ತ ಇದಿಯಾ??

There is no response from the other side.

MOHAN

(Concerned)

Baby, is everything fine??

KAVERI (ON PHONE)

ನಾನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಮಾತಾಡ್ತಿನಿ..

MOHAN

Hello??

The call gets disconnected.

EXT. WINE SHOP - DAY

A car passes by to reveal a big well lit wine shop.

CUT TO

INT. WINE SHOP - DAY

We see a hand pick a bottle of Imperial Blue Whiskey from the show case. We reveal Mohan holding the bottle and taking a look at it.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S CAR - NIGHT

We are looking at a deserted road ahead through the windshield of the car, driving at a good speed.

We see a Black Plastic bag with Alcohol bottle lying on the seat. Mohan is driving and has his eyes on the fuel indicator. It is almost empty. He turns off the AC & as he shifts his look back to the road--

A FEMALE FIGURE IN RED SAREE CROSSES THE ROAD, RIGHT IN FRONT OF MOHAN'S CAR.

Mohan applies brake after driving a few meters. He does not turn off the ignition. Breathing heavily he looks at the Rear View mirror. He sees someone/something, but we do not. Without wasting any more time, Mohan steps on the gas and speeds off.

CUT TO

EXT. MAIN ROAD - NIGHT

We see the car speeding off.

We hear a door bell

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

We are looking at the Main door from inside and the door bell is still ringing. We pan to see one of the room door quietly open. Sathish walks out zipping his pant and wearing his T Shirt to take his place on the Sofa near the Television in the hall. Vimala follows him out of the room buttoning her shirt & tying her hair. She walks to open the main door.

Sathish (Out of focus) turns on the Television. We hear 'ನೀನೆ ಸಾಕಿದ ಗಿಣಿ..' song from 'ಮಾನಸ ಸರೋವರ' playing. Behind him we see Mohan walk in followed by Vimala who is sounding concerned.

VIMALA (OUT OF FOCUS)

Mohan.. What's wrong??

Sathish hears this and turns off the T.V. Mohan walks past Sathish towards the sofa and takes his seat.

SATHISH

(Concerned)

ಏನಾಯ್ತು??

Mohan looks at Vimala and then at Sathish.

MOHAN

(Takes a moment and responds Breathing heavily)

I think I saw something..

VIMALA

Some THING??

Mohan's head is bent and he does not care to answer further. As Sathish and Vimala exchange looks and both look at Mohan again--

We hear Loud door knocks (in 4s). All three look in the Direction of the entrance door, which is not really visible from where they are sitting.

The door knocks repeat (in 4s).

Sathish gets up and walks to the door entrance. Vimala and Mohan do not move. They are waiting to hear from Sathish, sitting where they are. We hear the door open and then close. Sathish comes back to the hallway.

SATHISH

(Looking at Vimala)

ಯಾರು ಇಲ್ಲ..

He looks at Mohan--

SATHISH

ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ವಿವರಿಸಿ ಹೇಳು.. ಏನು ನೋಡಿದೆ.. ಎಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡಿದೆ??

INT. MOHAN'S CAR - NIGHT

We are looking at the road ahead through the windshield of the car driving at a good speed.

CUT TO

EXT. MAIN ROAD - DAY

We see Sathish and Mohan closing the doors of the car behind their back and walking away from the car. The car is parked on the middle of the road, since it is late in the night and the road is deserted.

Mohan first approaches the Tyre skid marks on the road. He then walks a few meters and stops at a point, indicating that as the place, where he saw the Female figure in red saree pass by.

CUT TO

INT. BOOT OF MOHAN'S CAR - DAY

The Boot opens and we see both Mohan and Sathish. Mohan leans in and takes the Torch out. He hands it to Sathish. He closes the Boot.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE OPEN KITCHEN - NIGHT

We see a Drawer open. We then reveal Vimala looking through, searching for something. We further see her search the shelves and a few more drawers. Unable to find what she is looking for, she stands still for a moment looking around in the Kitchen.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE ROOM - DAY

We see Vimala's hand turn on the bedroom light. We now see Vimala unzip a Travel Bag and look in it. She later opens the Almira door and starts looking in the drawers. As she closes the Almira door, she hears the Main door open. She does not move. She stands still for a few moments.

VIMALA

(Standing in front of the closed Almira)

Mohan.. Sathish ??

No one speaks.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE DOOR - NIGHT

Vimala is walking towards the door very slowly and hesitantly. As she approaches the door, she stops and looks at the door lock. The key is in the Lock from inside, but the door is slightly open. She pushes the door back to shut it and firmly secures it by locking from inside.

CUT TO

EXT. MAIN ROAD - NIGHT

On the reverb of the door lock, in a wide shot, we see Sathish pointing the Torch in all directions to see if he can find someone or something. He turns off the Torch and walks to Mohan who is leaning on his car waiting.

As Sathish walks back to Mohan--

SATHISH

(Looking at Mohan)

ನನಗೆ ಯಾಕೊ ನೀನು ಇದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಊಹೆ ಮಾಡ್ಕೊತ ಇದಿಯ ಅಂತ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತ ಇದೆ--

MOHAN

(Interrupts in a rude tone)

What about the door knocks ??

Mohan's phone starts vibrating. He picks the call on his hands-free.

MOHAN

(Talking to Vimala on phone)

VIMALA (ON PHONE)

MOHAN

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

VIMALA

ಯಾರೋ road cross ಮಾಡ್ತ ಇದ್ದರು ಅನ್ಸುತ್ತೆ.. ಅದನ್ನ ನೋಡಿ ನೀನು--

MOHAN (ON PHONE)

(Interrupts and raises his voice)

ಈಗ Phone ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ಯಾಕೆ ಅಂತ ಹೇಳ್ತಿಯ??

VIMALA

(Apologizing)

(Takes a moment)

Nothing so important.. ಮೊನ್ನೆ ಬರಬೇಕಾದರೆ China ಇಂದ ಎರಡು Green Tea Box ತಂದಿದ್ದೆ.. ಅದು ಕಾಣ್ತ ಇಲ್ಲ..

We see a Back Pack drop on the floor.

Close up of Kaveri's back pack, as it is unzipped. We see Kaveri take a Green Tea Box out of the bag.

We see the Script closed. Kaveri is done for the night. As we tilt up, we see Kaveri walk by, pushing the chair to go under the Study Table, on her way to the kitchen.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE KITCHEN - NIGHT

We see some water being filled into the cup with the Green Tea bag.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE KITCHEN (SHOT INSIDE OVEN) - DAY

We are inside a Microwave Oven. The door opens and we see Kaveri placing the cup into the Oven.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE KITCHEN - NIGHT

We see Kaveri close the Oven door. We are now looking only at her eyes over the Oven as she is bent over waiting for the Tea to boil. We see the Kitchen door exit over Kaveri's head and it is out of focus.

AT THE EXIT DOOR OF THE KITCHEN OVER Kaveri'S HEAD, WE SEE A FEMALE FIGURE IN RED SAREE standing and looking (OUT OF FOCUS).

We are now looking at Kaveri from the Exit door of the Kitchen from a wide angle. The Oven timer is still counting down. Kaveri stands up straight and looks back towards the kitchen exit half heartedly, as if, someone is at the exit watching her.

The Oven Timer stops.

CUT TO

We see Kaveri taking the last few sips of the tea. She stops when she first hears a chair being pulled out. She continues sipping the tea till she hears pages being flipped.

Kaveri leaves the cup on the granite slab in the kitchen, still looking at the exit.

We see more than normal number of Tea Bags in the cup.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - DAY

We follow Kaveri as she heads towards the study table.

A MILD BGM FADES IN WHICH CONTINUES TO ESCALATE AT A VERY GRADUAL PACE IN THE SUBSEQUENT SCENES.

A SHELL SHOCK SILENCE SOUND EFFECT GRADUALLY FADES IN (REF : Effect when Tom Hanks drops the helmet during opening war in 'Saving Private Ryan')--

Kaveri stops as she sees the chair pulled out from under the study table. Kaveri just stands still looking at the chair which is also angled towards her, apart from being pulled out. She is looking, as if someone is seated on the chair. The Script is open too. Very slowly, she walks to the chair, moves it to the right position and finally sits on it. We are looking at Kaveri from left Profile.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

SHELL SHOCK SILENCE EFFECT and MILD BGM CONTINUES--

A top angle shot of a cup of green tea with more than normal number of Tea Bags.

In right profile we see Vimala's right hand pick the cup & sip the green tea. As we go around to her frontal, behind her right shoulder--

WE SEE THE FEMALE FIGURE IN RED SAREE SITTING ON THE STEPS OUT OF FOCUS.

We hear the door bell. Amidst the sound effect, every noise originating in the scene is delayed and distant.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

SHELL SHOCK SILENCE EFFECT & MILD BGM CONTINUES. THE DOOR BELL SOUND ADDS UP--

We are looking at Kaveri at her Study table in a POV shot from a corner behind her right shoulder. Kaveri looks back at us. We now see a POV shot of an empty chair in the direction Kaveri is looking at.

In a tighter shot we are looking at Kaveri looking at us. After starring for a few moments, she gets back to the Script.

From Kaveri's left profile we go to her frontal and see the same FEMALE FIGURE WITH RED SAREE (OUT OF FOCUS) seated on that empty chair, we saw before.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

AS ALL THE EFFECTS AND THE BGM ESCALATE, THE DOOR BELL NOW CHANGES TO A DOOR KNOCK (Still distant and delayed)--

In a top angle shot we see Vimala resting her head on the sofa. She is sweating and trying really hard to keep her eyes open. She is dozing off and eventually closes her eyes.

As the shell shock sound effect and the BGM continue to escalate, the door knock which was distant & delayed, turns normal and is really loud.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE DOOR - NIGHT

With the effect and BGM escalating, and the door knock growing louder, we are approaching the door from inside--

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE DOOR - NIGHT

All effects come to an abrupt end as the door opens from inside and we see Devaki (Kaveri is playing this character in the Script) in Red Saree smiling at us. This is the first time we reveal her face.

SATHISH (OS)

As we hear a page flip--

FADE TO BLACK

We hear a page flip followed by--

Sound of a Refrigerator with the door closed. We hear the door open

INT. IN - DAY

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE KITCHEN - NIGHT

We see the Refrigerator door open. We see a hand pick a bottle of water.

CUT TO

We reveal the hand pouring water from the bottle to a glass.

CUT TO

We see the hand keep the bottle back in the fridge and close the door.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

We follow Devaki as she walks to where Vimala is sitting. Sathish is standing in a corner and Mohan is sitting opposite to Vimala. Devaki sits next to Vimala and helps her drink the glass of water.

DEVAKI

(Looking at Vimala sitting opposite to her)

ಹೇಗಿದಿರ ಈಗ..

VIMALA

(Sleepy eyes)

I am fine.. I think it is the green tea..

(Takes a moment)

ಎಷ್ಟೊತ್ತು ಮಲಗಿದ್ದೆ ನಾನು..??

DEVAKI

ಅರ್ಧ ಘಂಟೆ..

VIMALA

(Pointing at Mohan)

So.. ಇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನ ನೋಡಿ--

Devaki nods her head with a smile saying 'Yes'.

MOHAN

(Hesitantly hangs his head down)

This is so embarassing

DEVAKI

(Smiling)

Indeed.. ನಡು ರಾತ್ರಿ.. ಒಬ್ಬಳೆ ನಡ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬರ್ತ ಇದಿನಿ.. ಯಾರಮ್ಮ ನೀನು ಅಂತನಾದ್ರು ಕೇಳ್ಬಾರ್ದ..

MOHAN

(Instantly responds)

Are you kidding me?? Main Road ಇಂದ Diversion ತಗೊಂಡ ಮೇಲೆ ಹತ್ತು ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್ ನಿರ್ಜನ ಪ್ರದೇಶ ಅದು.. It's not safe.. ಇಷ್ಟೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರು ಓಡಾಡಲ್ಲ.. I got spooked..

(Takes a moment and responds with a curiosity)

How did you get here..??

DEVAKI

(Smiling) ನಡ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದೆ..)

MOHAN

(Sits back surprised)

Wow.. Unbelievable

DEVAKI

(Instantly)

Why..

MOHAN

(Instantly)

It's too dangerous that's why..

(Smiling sarcastically)

ಸ್ವಲ್ಪನಾದರು ಪ್ರಾಣ ಭಯ ಇಲ್ವ ನಿಮಗೆ??

DEVAKI

(Smiling)

ನಿಮ್ಮಷ್ಟಿಲ್ಲ..

MOHAN

(Smiling sarcastically)

Oh.. you think you know me??

DEVAKI

Yes I do..

As he leans towards Devaki pretending like he is amused--

MOHAN

(Smiling)

ಇನ್ನೇನು ಗೊತ್ತು ನನ್ನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ??

DEVAKI

(Takes a moment and looks at Vimala & back at Mohan)

ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಕಂಡರೆ ಆಗಲ್ಲ ನಿಮಗೆ..

The Smile on Mohan's face Vanishes.

MOHAN

Excuse me??

DEVAKI

(Smiling like its all normal)

You want her dead.. ಅಲ್ವ??

Vimala looks clueless and Sathish is about to lose it.

MOHAN

(Furios)

Devaki..

Devaki looks at Sathish and then back at Mohan.

DEVAKI

(Looking at Mohan)

Doorlock ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಳ್ದೆ ಹಾಗೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಿದ್ರಲ್ಲ ಅದಿಕ್ಕೆ ಕೇಳ್ತಾ ಇದಿನಿ.. I just walked in..

(Pointing to Vimala and giggling)

She didn't even notice.. ಇನ್ನೇನು ಅವರಿಗೆ surprise ಕೊಡೋಣ ಅನ್ನೊ ಅಷ್ಟ್ರಲ್ಲಿ..

(Looking at Vimala)

She passed out..

(Looking at Mohan)

What if it was not me..??

(Looking at Sathish)

ಬೇರೆ ಯಾರಾದರು ಒಳಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದರೆ..

(Starts giggling)

It's so scary.. ನೆನೆಸಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಭಯ ಆಗುತ್ತೆ..

(Looking at Vimala)

ಪಾಪ ಮಗು ಥರ ರೀ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೆಂಡತಿ.. She looks so innocent..

(Looks at Mohan)

ಅವರಿಗೆ ಏನಾದರು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಆಗಿದ್ದಿದ್ದರೆ.. ನನಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅಂದರೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಇಷ್ಟ..

A few moments of uncomfortable silence prevails as Vimala and Mohan are just looking cluelessly at all the senseless and crazy blabbering from Devaki. Sathish is endlessly starring at Devaki for what she said and Devaki is returning the stare.

We hear a cry of a just born baby.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

Kaveri who is immersed in the Script gets distracted by the cries. She looks in the Direction of the cry, which was from the first floor. She gets up from her chair and takes a moment. As she turns towards the painting on the wall--

We hear the below lines from the conversation earlier in the day.

LADY (ON PHONE)

Madam.. ಇದಿರ??

KAVERI

ಹೂಂ..

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - DAY

We are looking at the painting and pushing in.

LADY (ON PHONE)

(Takes a moment)

ರಾತ್ರಿ ಹೊತ್ತು Doorನ.. ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಬಿಗಿಯಾಗಿ lock ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಂಡು ಮಲ್ಕೊಳಿ..

We are looking at Kaveri now.

KAVERI

(Takes a moment)

LADY (ON PHONE)

First Floorನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರೊ Room ಇನ್ನು Renovation ಆಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದನ್ನ Access ಮಾಡೋದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಡಿ.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

We are following Kaveri as she is climbing the stairs up to the first floor. She stops halfway when she hears another cry from the Baby. She continues to go up. We follow her all the way to the door of the room on the first floor.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE FIRST FLOOR - DAY

She stands for a moment looking at the door. She gathers courage and knocks the door.

She does not get any response. She tries to open it, but in vain. She continues doing so and eventually the door opens.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE FIRST FLOOR ROOM - DAY

Kaveri walks into the room. The Baby cry now grows louder and is continuous. The room is completely dark. Kaveri tries turning on the lights but they do not work. We just see the room in Moonlight. It's a big empty room and Kaveri is alone with the room door open behind her back. She sees a dressed up cradle in the middle of the room from which the Baby cry is originating. She walks slowly towards the cradle. The cry abruptly stops. As Kaveri leans in, she just finds an Empty cradle. As she stands looking at it, She hears the door closing behind her back. Kaveri looks back at the room door and she sees the door closing by itself. The door slams with a huge thud.

After looking at the door for a few moments, Kaveri turns to the Cradle again--

WE SEE A HAND GRAB Kaveri BY HER NECK FROM INSIDE THE CRADLE--

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

In a top angle shot we see Kaveri at her chair, open her eyes and sit up. She is sweating and scared. She looks around and realizes it was a dream.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE KITCHEN - DAY

A Close up of the 'Clozapine' bottle. We see Kaveri take a few more pills & finish a glass full of water. She stands still for a moment and takes a deep breathe. We see her look down to her right and stretch her hand reaching out to something--

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE OPEN KITCHEN - NIGHT

In a top angle shot we see a hand run over the 4 knives on a knife stand.

DEVAKI

(As she runs her hand over the knives on the knife stand)

VIMALA

(As she is preparing the plates for dinner)

(Takes a moment as she looks at Devaki, running her hands over the knives)

(Not looking up)

First Floor ಅಲ್ಲಿ Guest Room ಇದೆ.. If you want to.. Also.. ಇವತ್ತು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಉಳ್ಕೊಬೇಕು..

Devaki looks up at Vimala and nods with a 'Yes'.

VIMALA

ಊಟ ಮಾಡಣ?

Devaki smiles and looks towards the knife stand. She takes a knife out.

We hear a knife slicing an Apple.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE DINING HALL - NIGHT

A close up of a hand with a knife, slicing an Apple. The Apple is sliced into four pieces. The four pieces are lined up next to each other. We reveal the hands to be of Devaki's, as she takes a bite from the first Apple piece and looks around.

Sathish, Mohan & Vimala are busy eating and there is a weird silence. We do not hear any noise except the plates & spoons and the eating. Devaki who is just observing the rest of them, decides to break the ice.

DEVAKI

Why are we so quiet?? ಏನಾದರು ಮಾತಾಡಿ..

Mohan is in a pissed off mood and Sathish is in no mood to talk. Vimala doesn't want the situation to get more embarassing and hence responds--

VIMALA

(Eating her food)

ಮತ್ತೆ.. ಹೇಗೆ ನಡಿತ ಇದೆ.. ನಿಮ್ಮ Character Preparation??

DEVAKI

(With a smile)

Pretty good..

(Takes a moment)

Nimhansನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ವಾರ spend ಮಾಡಿದೆ..

(Giggles)

I felt like I belong there..

(Continues to eat and talk)

(Takes a moment to smile at Vimala and points at Sathish and Mohan)

ಇವರಿಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ obviously ಕಥೆಯ Gist ಗೊತ್ತಿದೆ.. But ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳ್ತಿನಿ.. I play a Mentally Unstable Character.. ಕಾರಣಗಳು ಇರುತ್ವೆ.. ಅವಳ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ಥಿರತೆಗೆ.. Recover ಆಗ್ತ.. I fall in love.. I get married..

(She just gestures with the hand stating the obvious)

However.. ಮನಸಾರೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ ಮದುವೆ ಆದ ಆ ಹುಡುಗ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬ ಹುಡುಗಿಯ ಜೊತೆ ಅಕ್ರಮ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಇಟ್ಕೊಂಡಿರೋ ವಿಷಯ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗುತ್ತೆ.. I snap and I kill him.. ನಂತರ..

(Sarcastically smiling)

I kind of get into a serial killer mode.. ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮೂರು ಜನರನ್ನ ಕೊಲೆ ಮಾಡೊ ಅಂತ ಪ್ರಸಂಗ ಬರುತ್ತೆ..

(As she sits back)

See the point is.. Normal Human Being CharacterPortray ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದಾಗ.. ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಜೊತೆ ಒಂದಷ್ಟು ದಿವಸ ಕಾಲ ಕಳೆದು.. ಮನಸ್ಥಿತಿನ Study ಮಾಡಿ.. ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಗೆ ಅನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಅಥವ ಅವಳ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಹೇಗಿರುತ್ತ ಅಂತ ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಂಡು.. Performanceನಲ್ಲಿ ಆ Authenticityನ ಬಿಂಬಿಸೋದು..

(Nods her head)

ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಎದೆಗೆ ಚೂರಿ ಹಾಕಿ.. ಆತ ಒದ್ದಾಡ್ತ ಇದ್ದಾಗ.. ಪ್ರಾಣ ಹೋಗೊವರೆಗು ಕಣ್ಣಲ್ಲಿ ಕಣ್ಣಿಟ್ಟು.. ಅವನು ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತ ಇರೋ ನೋವನ್ನ ಸವಿಯೊ ಅಂತ ಕೊಲೆಪಾತಕಿಯ ಮನಸ್ಥಿತಿನ ಹೇಗೆ ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಳೋದು.. How do you enter the mind of someone like that???

An uncomfortable silence prevails again. Sathish tries to break the same by clearing his throat. He picks up his glass of whiskey and says cheers. Mohan follows him with his Glass and Vimala lifts her glass of wine. Devaki however pretends like she has a glass in her hand and joins them. Vimala then looks at Devaki who is pretending to enjoy the fragrance of an imaginary wine in the imaginary glass. She then takes a sip from her imaginary glass & takes time to enjoy the taste. Devaki keeps her imaginary glass down and looks at Vimala. As Vimala continues to stare at Devaki, the latter gives a sarcastic smile.

VIMALA

(Staring at Devaki)

ಪಾತ್ರದ ಹೆಸರು ಏನು??

The next moment--

WHISPERING VOICE (IN DEVAKI'S HEAD)

Kaveri..

The smile on Devaki's face vanishes and she is transported to a different world in her head. She is no longer present. As everything slows down--

WHISPERING VOICE (IN DEVAKI'S HEAD)

Kaveri..

Devaki looks back--

CUT TO

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

Kaveri who is immersed in reading the Script raises her head and is still for a few moments.

We hear the Voice of Sathish calling out Devaki--

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE DINING HALL - NIGHT

Sathish is trying to bring Devaki back to present. Mohan and Vimala are clueless. Sathish is calling Devaki out, but she is not hearing and neither do we, till he calls about 3 to 4 times. The fourth time--

SATHISH

(Raises his Voice)

Devaki

Devaki now snaps out from the world she was in & looks at Sathish. She comes back to present. She is not sure what just happened.

SATHISH

(Concerned)

ಏನಾಯ್ತು??

Devaki looks around for a little bit and then Storms off from the table without uttering a word. As Sathish gets up from the table too, Vimala and Mohan along with Sathish watch Devaki climb up the stairs to the first floor. They see her get into the guest room and slam the door behind her back.

Mohan is already pissed off at the entire episode from the moment Sathish stepped in to the House.

MOHAN

(Looking at the guest room door sarcastically--)

So polite

(Turning to Vimala in a pissed off mood--)

ಇನ್ಮೇಲೆ ಹೇಳ್ದೆ ಕೇಳ್ದೆ.. ಕಂಡು ಕಂಡವರನ್ನ Dinnerಗೆ Invite ಮಾಡಿದ್ರೆ.. ನಾನು ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಇರೋದಿಲ್ಲ..

Sathish loses it as he looks at Vimala (who is fuming at Mohan) and then looks at Mohan.

SATHISH

ನಾನೇನು ತಿನ್ನೋದಕ್ಕೆ ಗತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ

MOHAN

ಮತ್ತೆ?? ಓ..

(Shifts his look to Vimala back to Sathish)

ತಿಂದಿದ್ದು ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಆಗಿರ್ಬೇಕು.. ಉಪ್ಪು ಖಾರ..

(As he looks at the guest room door and back at Sathish--)

ಮನೇಲಿ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಹೀಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ನೀನು ಏನು ಮಾಡ್ತಿಯ--

VIMALA

(Tries to Interrupt)

Mohan--

Mohan signals his hand towards Vimala not to interrupt. He is just staring at Sathish who expression changes to smirk from being serious.

MOHAN

What is so funny??

SATHISH

(With a sarcastic smile on his face)

ನೀನು ಉಪ್ಪು ಖಾರ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ತಿನ್ನೊ ಅಂಥವನು ಆಗಿದ್ದಿದ್ರೆ..

(Turns to Vimala and then back to Mohan)

ನನ್ನ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ ಅನ್ಸುತ್ತೆ--

The next moment Mohan gets up from his chair and hurles towards Sathish picking the Knife on the table--

VIMALA

(Screaming at the top of her voice as she gets up from her chair)

Sathish.. Mohan..

Mohan is holding Sathish against the wall with the knife in his right hand, threatening to stab. They are breathing heavily. Sathish however still has a smirk on his face and unapologetic about what he said. Both relax a little and step back hearing Vimala. Mohan throws the knife down and walks away into his room slamming the door behind his back. Vimala walks past Sathish and picks the knife on the floor.

CUT TO

We see a pair of hands washing the knife off at the sink in the kitchen.

CUT TO

Vimala walks to the knife stand and puts the knife back in the vacant slot on the knife stand. There are 4 knives now.

On her way back to her room, Vimala stops to look at Sathish--

VIMALA

(Serious tone)

Go check on her.. ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತಾಡಣ..

Sathish is unperturbed & looks at Vimala walk away.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE STAIRS TO FIRST FLOOR - DAY

We are following Sathish as he is climbing up the stairs to the first floor.

We are following Sathish as he is walking towards the guest room

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM - DAY

The guest room door opens and Sathish walks in. The room is dark since the lights are turned off. Devaki is lying on the bed. Sathish walks to his side of the bed and turns on the bed light. He stands next to the bed and looks at Devaki. She is in deep sleep.

Sathish sits on the Bed, takes his phone out and turns on the display. He looks back at Devaki again and then back at his phone. We see him unlock the phone & send a text. We don't really see the content or who he is sending it to. Once done, he keeps his Wallet along with his cell phone and his car keys on his side of table next to the bed lamp.

Sathish lies down on the bed. Before trying to go off to sleep, Sathish reaches out to turn off the Bed Light--

CUT TO

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

We see Kaveri's hand turning off the study lamp. She is still in deep thoughts and sits there for a few moments in darkness.

CUT TO

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE KITCHEN - NIGHT

We see a hand turn on a stove.

CUT TO

We see a hand putting corn onto a pan on the Stove to boil.

CUT TO

We see some tomatoes being sliced to small pieces.

CUT TO

We see some Onions sliced to small pieces.

CUT TO

We see some Carrot followed by Cucumber being sliced into small pieces.

We see all ingedients mixed with the corn along with salt and stirred.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

Kaveri is at the dining table eating a bowl full of Veggie salad she just prepared.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE ROOM HALLWAY - DAY

Kaveri is walking towards her bedroom.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE ROOM - DAY

We see the 'Return from Madness' book cover. As we tilt up we see Kaveri immersed in the book. We later reveal Kaveri resting on the bed and reading the book.

From her profile, we see the door exit, where we see the Woman in Red Saree standing and looking at Kaveri. The woman is out of focus.

From POV of the Woman in a wide shot, we see Kaveri feel like someone is looking at her and turn towards the exit. There is no one. Kaveri keeps the book aside and takes her phone. We see her getting to the last dialed numbers and call Mohan. The phone starts ringing on the other side and finally gets picked up--

MOHAN (ON PHONE)

(Sternly)

Hello..

KAVERI

(Hesitantly)

Mohan..

MOHAN (ON PHONE)

(Takes a moment)

ಹೇಳು..

KAVERI

(In a Curious tone)

ಯಾಕಿನ್ನು ಮಲ್ಗಿಲ್ಲ..?? ಏನು ಮಾಡ್ತ ಇದಿಯ???

MOHAN (ON PHONE)

(Takes a deep breath)

ನನ್ನ Mood ಸರಿ ಇಲ್ಲ.. ನಾಳೆ ಮಾತಾಡ್ತಿನಿ..

The call gets hung up by the time Kaveri reacts.

Kaveri keeps her phone aside. She goes off to sleep. As she turns off the Bed Lamp--

In the exit door of the room, we see the Woman in Red Saree still standing and watching, but out of Focus.

CUT TO

EXT. EDAKALLU ESTATE - DAY

We establish a beautiful early morning greenery.

CUT TO

EXT. HIKING PATH - DAY

Several shots of Kaveri walking with her Travel bag through the thick greenery.

CUT TO

Kaveri is drinking Energy Water from a bottle in her hand as she continues to hike.

CUT TO

Kaveri is taking photos of the beautiful scenery with her DSLR camera on the way.

CUT TO

EXT. LAKE SIDE - DAY

We see the last nail of the camping tent being hammered to the ground. The tent is ready.

CUT TO

Kaveri is finally at her destination. She is standing by the lake and enjoying the view.

CUT TO

EXT. LAKE SIDE - DAY

We establish the night sky.

CUT TO

We see a small campfire with firewood, which looks like, has been collected from the surroundings.

CUT TO

We see Kaveri take a sandwich out of a box and start eating.

CUT TO

INT. CAMPING TENT - DAY

We are looking at the ceiling of the tent in Kaveri's POV. Kaveri is in her sleeping bag looking at the Ceiling. The only light source inside the tent is a Torch. Kaveri looks sleepy and tired. She turns off the Torch and decides to sleep. As she closes her eyes and stays that way for a few moments--

We hear a few scary but distant animal screams. Kaveri opens her eyes. We then hear what sounds like a stone thrown into the lake water nearby. Kaveri becomes a little unrest. Now we hear distant foot steps approaching and stopping. The same happens again.

Kaveri turns on the Torch and sits up.

CUT TO

EXT. LAKE SIDE - NIGHT

We see Kaveri getting out of the small tent unzipping the entrance. She walks a few steps from the Tent and points the Torch all around.

NOTHING--

CUT TO

INT. CAMPING TENT - NIGHT

Kaveri is zipping back the entrance. She turns off the Torch and she goes back to sleep. After a few moments of silence--

We hear the footsteps getting louder and approacing the Tent. Kaveri opens her eyes again and turns on the Torch and sits tight inside the Tent. As the footsteps sound like they are right next to the tent, they go quite. After a moment of quiteness--

We see a shadow of a hand ouside, on the entrance of the Tent. The hand goes down and we continue to hear heavy breathing all of which vanishes in a few moments and the atmosphere turns dead silent. Kaveri is holding her breath as she is witnessing all this.

Kaveri Summons up courage and decides to unzip the entrance. Hesitantly she unzips it, but she does not step out. As she waits--

A WOMAN WITH A BLOOD FILLED FACE FALLS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE ENTRANCE AND REACHES OUT TO Kaveri FOR HELP.

Kaveri steps out and holds the woman in her arms. The woman is VIMALA. As Vimala is struggling to breath and Kaveri is helplessly looking at her--

Someone is approaching them at a rapid pace. In the POV of the person approaching, as we get closer to the two women, Vimala looks towards the person approaching and GASPS--

CUT TO

INT. CAMPING TENT - DAY

Kaveri opens her eyes.

CUT TO

EXT. LAKE SIDE - DAY

We see Kaveri stepping out of the Tent. She looks towards the lake and enjoys the early morning view. As she frees her body and turns towards the tent, something catches her attention.

CUT TO

We see Kaveri looking at us. She then points her camera towards us. We reveal her taking photos of blood stains on the Tent Entrance. There is a hand impression along with other stains.

After taking the photos, she looks around. She is tensed.

CUT TO

EXT. HIKING PATH - DAY

Kaveri is back on the Hiking path with her trekking bag. She is walking at a rapid pace. She still has the camera in her hand.

She stops at a wooden log on the ground. She points the camera and takes a photo of the Blood all over.

CUT TO

Kaveri makes another stop where we see her take a photo of the Tree branch with blood all over it.

CUT TO

We now see Kaveri taking photos of the Blood that has dripped on the ground.

CUT TO

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - DAY

We are looking at the entrance door from inside. It bursts open and Kaveri walks in closing the door behind her back. She stands there for a moment and drops her trekking bag on the floor.

CUT TO

We see the Memory card taken out of the Camera.

CUT TO

We see the Laptop lid being opened.

CUT TO

We see the Memory card being inserted into the slot on Laptop.

CUT TO

We are looking at Kaveri's eyes over the open laptop lid, as she is checking something.

We are now looking at the photos she had taken on the way back from hiking on the Laptop screen. As she browses along we see the photos of the Blood stained tent, wooden log, tree branch and the ground.

Kaveri is breathing heavily. She takes a few moments and sits back--

At the far corner behind Kaveri, we see the Woman in Red Saree standing but still out of focus.

Kaveri turns back.

NOTHING..

She then shifts her look to the study table where the Script is lying. As the pages on the Script start flipping and as the sound of the flipping pages become louder & louder---

We hear a cell phone Vibrate.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE ROOM - NIGHT

Mohan is at the Porch outside his room. He takes his cell phone out of his pocket and picks the call. He is in no mood to talk.

MOHAN

(Sternly)

Hello..

LADY (ON PHONE)

(Hesitantly)

Mohan..

MOHAN

(Takes a moment)

ಹೇಳು..

LADY (ON PHONE)

(In a Curious tone)

ಯಾಕಿನ್ನು ಮಲ್ಗಿಲ್ಲ..?? ಏನು ಮಾಡ್ತ ಇದಿಯ???

MOHAN

(Takes a deep breath)

ನನ್ನ Mood ಸರಿ ಇಲ್ಲ.. ನಾಳೆ ಮಾತಾಡ್ತಿನಿ..

Mohan hangs up the call abruptly. He walks back into his room. Vimala is lying on the bed and she is fast asleep.

CUT TO

He opens a drawer and takes his phone charger out.

CUT TO

Mohan plugs in the charger and connects his phone. He looks at it to make sure it is charging. He leaves the phone on the table.

As he looks towards the bed again, something catches his attention. We then see what he is looking at. Vimala's phone on the table on her side of the bed with the notification light blinking.

Mohan stealthily reaches out to Vimala's phone on the Bed and takes it. He seems to know the password. He Looks towards Vimala to make sure she doesn't wake up & he unlocks the phone and gets into WhatsApp. He opens a recent unread message from Sathish and reads it.

Message - I wish you were next to me on the bed right now (With a Heart and Kiss Emoticon)

Mohan turns off the phone display. We see a rage on his face. He keeps the phone where it was next to the bed and storms out of the Bedroom.

We hear a running water in the Bathroom.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM (BATHROOM) - NIGHT

We see water gushing out at full speed from a tap, in to the sink. We see Devaki sitting at a corner and is out of focus.

CUT TO

We see Devaki's hands take water from the tap and splash it on her face. Devaki is looking at herself in the mirror. As she turns off the tap, there is a moment of silence after which, she hears someone stumble in the room. Devaki takes a moment. She stealthily opens the Bathroom door and peeps into the room. She finds someone lying on the floor and another person sitting next to the person lying.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM - DAY

Devaki walks out of the Bathroom very slowly and quietly. She finds Sathish lying in a pool of blood with his back stabbed with a knife and most probably dead, since he is not moving. Mohan is sitting next to the Body.

Devaki is not able to believe what she just saw. She closes her mouth and is in tears, but makes sure she is quiet and her first priority now is to get away.

Mohan hears someone behind him and looks back. The next moment, Devaki runs out of the room and slams the door.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE ROOM - NIGHT

Vimala who is in a deep sleep opens her eyes.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM ENTRANCE - NIGHT

Devaki is trembling and trying to lock the door with the keys hanging at the door from outside. She takes the key out of the lock after finally securing the door. She walks back looking at the door as Mohan is knocking from inside. Devaki is uncontrollable and is in tears.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE ROOM - NIGHT

Vimala gets up from her bed and looks around. Mohan is not around. She looks towards the Bathroom door.

We hear a door knock.

CUT TO

Vimala is knocking the bathroom door, calling Mohan out.

VIMALA

(Knocking the door)

Mohan.. Mohan..

Not getting a response, she opens the door. There is no one in the bathroom.

CUT TO

Vimala takes her phone and Dials Mohan's number. She hears the phone vibrate right there in the room. The phone is charging. Vimala walks to Mohan's phone. She unplugs his phone from the charger and plugs her phone in and leaves it there along with Mohan's phone.

We hear the Refrigerator door open.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE KITCHEN - NIGHT

Vimala opens the Refrigerator door and takes a bottle of water. As she closes the door and starts drinking the water, the knife stand catches her attention. There is a vacant slot now and there are only 3 knives. She then looks around and sees someone sitting in the hall on the sofa from behind.

CUT TO

We start walking in Vimala's POV walking towards the person sitting.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - DAY

In Vimala's POV we walk around to find that the person sitting is Devaki. She is not looking up and Vimala gets worried.

VIMALA

(Very concerned)

Devaki..

As Devaki raises her head, we see her in tears and she looks miserable.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM - NIGHT

Mohan is restlessly walking around in the room. He is looking for something. He finds Sathish's phone on the table next to the Bed. He picks the phone and turns on the display. He tries to unlock the phone several times but without any luck. He sits on the bed and looks to the locked door from inside.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

We see a shock on Vimala's face as she is looking at Devaki.

VIMALA

I don't believe this..

(Tears rolling down her eyes)

ನಾನು ಅವನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಮಾತಾಡ್ಬೇಕು..

We hear loud door knocks from inside the Guest Room.

MOHAN (OS)

Devaki.. ಬಾಗಿಲು ತಗಿತಿಯೊ ಇಲ್ವೊ..

(Screaming)

Vimala.. Vimala..

Vimala is looking at the Guest room door from where she is sitting.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM - NIGHT

Mohan is tired calling out. He goes back and sits on the bed. He is breathing heavily and is still restless. As he is looking at Sathish's dead body on the floor--

We hear the guest room door being unlocked. Mohan becomes alert and looks towards the door.

VIMALA (OS)

Mohan.. ನಾನು ಒಳಗೆ ಬರ್ತಾ ಇದಿನಿ.. Stay where you are..

As the door opens, Vimala walks in and the first thing she looks at is Sathish's dead body on the floor. She almost breaks down as she then looks at Mohan sitting on the bed with a miserable expression.

MOHAN

(Miserable)

Vimala--

FLASH CUT

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE ROOM - NIGHT

Mohan is looking at the WhatsApp message from Sathish on Vimala's phone and we see him keep the phone back where it was.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

Mohan is storming towards the main entrance door.

CUT TO

EXT. MOHAN'S HOUSE DOOR - NIGHT

We see Mohan light a cigarette and start smoking at the porch outside the house.

FLASH CUT

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM - NIGHT

MOHAN

(Pointing towards Sathish's body)

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

On the way back to his room through the hall, Mohan stops as something catches his attention on the first floor, near the guest room door. We don't see what he is looking at.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM - NIGHT

The door is slightly open and from inside the guest room, we are looking at Mohan standing outside and looking at something. We see a shock on his face. We see someone walk past him.

FLASH CUT

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM - DAY

MOHAN

(Helpless)

ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನಾನು ಹೇಳೋದು ಕೇಳುಸ್ಕೊ

Mohan is waiting for Vimala to react to his intent to explain. Vimala is giving a cold stare at Mohan and we see her close the Guest room door--

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE FIRST FLOOR - DAY

We see the Guest Room door close from outside. We are looking at Devaki standing at a distance and looking at the closed door. Her teary eyed expression very gradually begins to change as she is looking at--

The jangling key chain of the Guest Room door key. It's a small Teddy Bear.

Devaki is a different person now judging by the expression on her face. She is no longer in tears. She rather looks fierce--

The key chain continues to jangle and the noise gets louder and louder, so does the expression on Devaki's face, who is looking at it. She is turning into a monster--

WHISPERING VOICE

Kaveri..

Devaki opens her eyes from a deep sleep as she hears the voice. She sits up on the bed and looks at the closed door of the guest room outside which she seems to be hearing the voice. She is alone in the room.

WHISPERING VOICE

(Villainous laugh followed by--)

Kaveri..

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE FIRST FLOOR - DAY

We see the guest room door open. Devaki is looking at us from inside. She steps out and stands there for a moment. In Devaki's POV we see--

A Dark figure of a man standing opposite to her. We just see his Body outline and not his face or other features. He is holding something down in his right hand. It's a Big Teddy Bear soft toy. We are seeing the toy clearly but not him. The below voices begin simultaneously in a loop in Devaki's head.

WHISPERING VOICE

(Loop 1)

ಅವತ್ತು ಗೆದ್ದಿದ್ದು ನಾನೆ.. ವೇನಿ.. ವಿಡಿ.. ವಿಚಿ.. ನೀನು ಸೋತೆ.. ನೀನು ಸೋತೆ..

(Loop 2)

I came.. I saw.. I conquered.. You are a loser.. You are a loser..

(Loop 3)

ಇವತ್ತು ಗೆಲ್ತ ಇರೋದು ನಿನ್ನ ಗಂಡ.. ಅವನು ನಿನಗೆ ಮೋಸ ಮಾಡ್ತ ಇದನೆ.. ನೀನು ಇವತ್ತು ಸೋಲ್ತಾ ಇದಿಯಾ.. You are still a loser..

As the above whispers escalate and get really loud, Devaki is losing it. She collapses to her knees holding her head hearing the voices. Just when she is about to completely lose it--

A Woman's voice gradually interrupts and raises to completely silence the Whispering Voice which is of a man's--

WOMAN'S VOICE

not this time.. Not This Time.. NOT THIS TIME..

As the whispering voice is silenced, Devaki raises her head and looks up. This time she sees a dark figure of a woman. She is holding down a knife in her right hand, in the place of the soft toy.

WOMAN'S VOICE

(As Devaki is looking up at the dark figure)

ನೀನು ಸೋಲೋ ಹಾಗಿಲ್ಲ.. ನೀನು ಸೋಲ್ತ ಇಲ್ಲ.. YOU ARE NOT A LOSER--

The Dark Figure throws the knife towards Devaki. As Devaki is looking at the knife--

We hear a GASP--

CUT TO

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

We see Kaveri at her desk with the Script. She is Gasping and not able to breath.

CUT TO

We see her trembling hands searching the trekking bag for the Clozapine Pills. She finally finds it and pops a few.

CUT TO

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE BATHROOM - DAY

Kaveri storms into the Bathroom and drinks water directly from the sink at the Bathroom. She does not turn off the Tap. She collapses and rests against the wall at the Bathroom. She tries to relax.

We are looking at the running water from the Tap.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM BATHROOM - DAY

We see a hand turn off the tap. We see Sathish looking at himself in the Mirror. As he walks out of the Bathroom--

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM - DAY

--He sees Devaki standing near the Window in the room looking outside with her back to Sathish. Her hair is open.

SATHISH

Devaki..

There is no response. Sathish walks to Devaki and lays his hand on her shoulder, calling her out again.

Devaki slowly turns and we see her in profile. Sathish finds something amiss. He decides to step back. As he turns to go back to bed--

DEVAKI STABS SATHISH IN HIS BACK--

Sathish falls down gasping for breath. Devaki is giving a cold stare and looks at him collapse. She is almost enjoying his struggle. Sathish is now down on the floor on his tummy. Devaki kneels down and looks into his eyes. She is relishing every moment. Sathish stops breathing.

DEVAKI

(Whispering)

Veni.. Vidi.. Vici..

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE FIRST FLOOR - NIGHT

From someone's POV we are looking through slightly opened Guest Room door at Devaki get up and walk past towards the bathroom.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM (BATHROOM) - NIGHT

We see Devaki's hands turning on the Tap in the Sink. She walks to a corner and sits out of focus.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM - DAY

We are looking at Sathish's dead body. As we pan and tilt up, we see Mohan sitting on the bed. He then turns towards Vimala who is at the door of the Guest Room. Vimala is stunned and takes a few moments.

VIMALA

ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಇದು ಯಾವುದು--

(Nods her head saying no)

ಅವಳನ್ನ ಏನಾದರು ಮಾಡಿ ಇಲ್ಲೆ--

(Takes a moment)

ನಾನಿದನ್ನ manage ಮಾಡ್ತಿನಿ.. Let's call the cops..

(Thinks)

ನೀನು ಇಲ್ಲೆ ಇರು..

Vimala walks out of the room and closes the door behind he back.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE FIRST FLOOR - NIGHT

Vimala closes the guest room door from outside. She finds out that the key is missing though. She is a little worried. She then turns towards the stairs to go down and calls out for Devaki.

VIMALA

(Looking around from where she is standing)

Devaki

(As she is walking & looking down)

Devaki..

(As she is climbing down the stairs)

Devaki...

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - DAY

Vimala reaches the ground floor. She looks around towards the hall and then towards the kitchen. There are a lot of places in the house, if someone wants to hide.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE ROOM - NIGHT

Vimala opens the room door and looks around. There is no one. At the dressing table, she sees a few items from the make up kit scattered around. She gets more worried. She looks towards the plug point where Mohan's phone was lying and where she would have kept her phone for charging. The phones are missing. Vimala slowly steps back sensing something is wrong. She runs to the hall--

VIMALA

(Looking around and stammering)

Devaki.. ನಾನು Mohan ಹತ್ರ ಮಾತಾಡಿದಿನಿ.. ಅವ್.. ಅವನು surrender ಆಗ್ತನಂತೆ..

(Waits for a response)

We have to call the cops Devaki..

(Walking towards the kitchen)

Devaki..

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE KITCHEN - DAY

She freezes looking at something.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE FIRST FLOOR - NIGHT

In someone's POV we are climbing down from the first floor.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE ROOM - DAY

In someone's POV we walk into the room and look around.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - DAY

In someone's POV we walk out of the room and into the hall.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE KITCHEN - DAY

In someone's POV we are heading towards the kitchen. We are now approaching Vimala. As we get near, we see a hand rest on Vimala's shoulder from behind.

Vimala gasps and looks around to find Mohan. She hugs him. Mohan and Vimala are looking at the Knife stand. The remaining 3 knives are missing and all the slots are empty.

They hear a loud noise of a door open and close.

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - DAY

Mohan holds Vimala's hand and walks her out to the hall very slowly and stealthily. Once they reach the hall they hear a loud noise of some utensil fall in the kitchen.

MOHAN

(Restlessly looking all around)

Let's get out of here--

Mohan drags Vimala and both of them run towards the main door. We hear the Main door open and close.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE CAR PARKING - DAY

Mohan and Vimala are running towards Mohan's parked car. They get in and close the door

INT. MOHAN'S CAR - DAY

Both Mohan and Vimala get into the car and close the door. Mohan is trembling and inserts the key in the ignition. He turns it on & looks at the fuel indicator. It's almost empty. Both him and Vimala exchange looks and Mohan tries starting the car--

After a few attempts the car finally starts. Mohan steps on the gas. They drive just a few metres and--

The car comes to a halt.

As both Mohan and Vimala are sitting helplessly, we see Mohan reach out to his pocket. We see him take out Sathish's phone. He turns on the display. He hands over the phone to Vimala hesitantly.

MOHAN

(Hesitantly handing over the phone)

Password ಗೊತ್ತಿದ್ರೆ unlock ಮಾಡು..

Vimala takes the phone feeling a little embarrassed. She tries a few passwords.

VIMALA

(Entering a few different passwords)

I don't know..

She tries calling '100' by using emergency call feature. The call does not connect. She tries again. It still does not connect--

She puts the phone on the dashboard unable to unlock it.

VIMALA

(Not looing at Mohan)

ಬೆಳಕು ಆಗೊವರೆಗು ಇಲ್ಲೆ ಇರೋದು safe ಅನ್ಸುತ್ತೆ--

As both sit there in silence for a few moments--

Sathish's phone starts ringing. Vimala takes the phone and looks at the display. It reads 'Kaveri' calling.

Vimala shows the phone to Mohan. He unsuccessfully tries to pretend like he doesn't know who is calling. He takes the phone and picks the call hesitantly and doesn't say hello--

KAVERI (ON PHONE)

Mohan.. ಯಾಕ್ ಆಗಲೆ call cut ಮಾಡಿದೆ..??

Mohan is clueless. He does not utter a word and just looks at Vimala.

KAVERI (ON PHONE)

Anyway.. Sathishcar key Guest Roomನಲ್ಲಿದೆ--

Mohan looks at Sathish's car parked at a distance.

KAVERI (ON PHONE)

--That's your only way out.. Vimalaನ ಒಂಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಬಿಡಬೇಡ.. ಅವಳನ್ನು ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಕರ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗು--

The call gets disconnected. As Mohan takes the phone off his ear--

VIMALA

ಯಾರದು??

Mohan looks at Vimala and then back at the phone. He looks at Vimala again. She has not taken her eyes off him--

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

We are following Mohan and Vimala as they are walking through the hall. Mohan is holding an iron rod in his right hand and holding Vimala's hand in the other.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE STAIRS TO FIRST FLOOR - DAY

We are following Mohan and Vimala as they are climbing up the stairs towards the Guest Room.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM ENTRANCE - DAY

We are following Mohan and Vimala as they are approaching the Guest Room.

As they are near the door they stop--

Mohan is looking at the Jangling Teddy Bear Key chain in the lock. He looks at Vimala. Both get a little concerned. Very stealthily Mohan opens the Guest Room door and finds Devaki. She is sitting next to Sathish's body and sobbing.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE GUEST ROOM - DAY

Mohan and Vimala are still holding hands as they walk in and Mohan has a firm grip on the iron rod in his right hand. Devaki is still looking at Sathish's body and sobbing endlessly.

She takes a moment to relax and then raises her hand. We see Sathish's car key in her hand.

Mohan looks at Vimala. He leaves her hand and takes the keys from Devaki. Devaki is a mess and by the looks, she has been crying for really long. She starts coughing--

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

Vimala walks past Devaki after handing her a glass of water. She sits next to Mohan. Devaki drinks the glass full of water and--

VIMALA

How are you feeling ??

DEVAKI

(Takes a moment)

I am really sorry.. ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನನ್ನ ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಿ..

Vimala looks at Mohan, but Mohan does not react. He is endlessly staring at Devaki.

DEVAKI

(In tears)

ನಾನು Surrender ಆಗಬೇಕು.. Please take me to the cops--

Sathish's phone in Mohan's Pocket starts ringing. He takes it out and looks at the display. It's a call from Kaveri. Vimala looks at Mohan and then at Devaki who is giving a cold stare to Mohan. As Mohan picks the call--

KAVERI (ON PHONE)

(Teasing)

ಹೊಸ ಮನೆ.. ಹೆಂಡ್ತಿ ಬೇರೆ ಊರಿಂದ ಬಂದಿದಳೆ.. ನನ್ನ ಮರೆತೆಹೋಗಿದ್ಯ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತೆ..

Mohan doesn't have anything to say--

KAVERI (ON PHONE)

ಆ ದಿವಸ ನನಗೆ ಇನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿದೆ--

INT. RESTAURANT - DAY

Mohan and Kaveri are sitting at a table.

KAVERI (ON PHONE/VO)

Sathishನಗು Vimalaಗು ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಇರೋ Affair ವಿಷಯ ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ--

Kaveri wipes her tears and keeps her hand back on the table. Mohan places his hand on Kaveri's hand and she does not like it. She backs out.

CUT TO

INT. MOHAN'S CAR - DAY

The car is parked. Kaveri is not looking at Mohan. Her head is bent and she is sad. Mohan is however looking at Kaveri.

KAVERI (ON PHONE/VO)

ನನಗೆ ಬೇಕಾಗಿದ್ದಿದ್ದು.. ಒಂದು Emotional Support..

Mohan forcefully takes Kaveri's hand and kisses it. She quickly grabs her hand off his clutches. She gives an angry look at Mohan. Mohan is unapologetic.

CUT TO

INT. KAVERI'S HOME - DAY

Kaveri open's her house door and finds Mohan at the door.

CUT TO

KAVERI (ON PHONE/VO)

ಆದರೆ ನೀನು--

Mohan is holding Kaveri against the wall and he runs his thumb over her lips. Kaveri is in tears.

KAVERI (ON PHONE/VO)

You shouldn't have done that..

Mohan has an unapologetic look on his face.

FLASH CUT

INT. MOHAN'S HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

DEVAKI (OS)

ನೀನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ತಪ್ಪು..

Mohan takes the phone off his ears as he hears Devaki saying the above lines and is in a shock.

DEVAKI

(Giving a cold stare)

ನಾನು ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಇದ್ದಿದ್ದು ಇನ್ನೂ ದೊಡ್ಡ ತಪ್ಪು..

Mohan and Vimala are not moving. The unpredictability on Devaki's face is looking scary--

Devaki very slowly gets up and walks to Mohan and stands opposite to him. Mohan is sitting down and is looking up at Devaki. Devaki locks her eyes with Mohan's who is not able to move.

DEVAKI

Do you feel it???

(With a Smirk on her face)

There is a storm coming--

The next moment Devaki directs a knife into Mohan's Heart (On his chest). Vimala falls off from where she is sitting on to the floor and breaks down. She gets all fuzzy and crawls to pick the iron rod lying on the floor.

Devaki is looking into Mohan's Eyes as his life is ebbing out of his body. Mohan is DEAD.

Devaki now looks towards cornered Vimala. Vimala gets up with a lot of difficulty. She has the iron rod in her hands and is moving back as Devaki is stepping towards her.

DEVAKI

(Stepping towards Vimala)

ನನ್ನ ಗಂಡ ಬೇಕೇನೆ ನಿನಗೆ..??

(Screams)

ನನ್ನ ಗಂಡ ಬೇಕಾ..???

Vimala very hesitantly raises the iron rod, but Devaki gets to her in no time and holds Vimala's neck with her left hand pushing the latter against the wall. As Devaki tightens the grip on Vimala's neck, Vimala loses grip on the iron rod. Devaki has a knife in her right hand and she is forcing it into Vimala's Stomach. We see the Knife go in a little. Vimala uses all her force and pushes Devaki onto the floor.

Vimala is struggling and at the same time stepping back and heads towards the Main Door.

Devaki is lying on the floor. She hysterically roars/laughs looking at Vimala run and screams at the top of her voice--

DEVAKI

Veni.. Vidi.. Vici..

CUT TO

EXT. FOREST RANGE/LAKE SIDE - NIGHT

Vimala is running crazily for her life through what looks like a forest range. We are following her.

She keeps looking back to make sure, she is not being followed. She stumbles a couple of times.

After running some distance, she ends up on the bank of a lake. She stops, looking at someone or something.

As we go around, we see her looking at a camping tent. The light is on, but the entrance is zipped. Vimala starts walking towards the tent. She is bleeding and struggling, but is not giving up.

Vimala eventually stumbles on to her knees next to the tent. She does not have any strength left to scream. She still tries calling out to the person inside several times for help. She puts her hand on the entrance, in her attempt to wake the person inside up, which leaves a blood stain on the Tent entrance. She is not getting a response--

CUT TO

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

In a wide shot we see the woman in red saree at the study table with the Script. She is still out of focus.

VIMALA (OS)

(Pleading)

ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಕಾಪಾಡಿ.. Pleaseeeee--

We see the Script on it's front cover facing down and then see the woman's hand reach to the study lamp switch, about to turn if off--

CUT TO

EXT. LAKE SIDE - NIGHT

The light inside the camping tent goes off. Vimala is not able to control her tears because of how miserable she is. Just as she is trying to breath--

She hears foot steps behind her. Without wasting any more time, she helps herself back up and starts running again.

CUT TO

EXT. FOREST RANGE/HIKING PATH/EDAKALLU HOUSE - NIGHT

We continue to follow Vimala as she runs through the Forest Range. She stumbles a couple of more times leaving a series of blood stains on the way. She is still hearing the foot steps following her.

Vimala eventually stops looking at a house at a distance. She is a little relieved looking at the light on, inside the house.

CUT TO

EXT. HOUSE IN THE FOREST/EDAKALLU HOUSE - NIGHT

Vimala is knocking at the door. After knocking several times, she hears someone unlock the door from inside.

As Vimala very gently pushes the door and walks in--

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - DAY

We find that she is inside Edakallu Estate House. She is all alone standing in the middle of the hall and tries calling out--

VIMALA

(Breathing heavily)

Hello.. ಯಾರದರು ಇದಿರ??..

(Sobbing)

Anyone ??

Vimala walks to the Study table when she doesn't get any response. The Script is lying on the table on it's front cover facing down. Vimala turns on the study lamp and looks at the back cover. She flips the same and finds a rough sketch of a person in a cage on the last page of the Script. Vimala is in pain and can't make much out of it. She continues looking around and something catches her attention. She walks in that Direction.

We now see Vimala looking at the Painting of a 'Black Bird inside the cage' which is the exact same piece on the wall at her new house. Behind Vimala, we see the woman in red saree out of focus. Vimala feels someone behind her and turns--

The Woman in red saree walks towards us and for the first time we are seeing her in focus. She is DEVAKI--

Before Vimala could react, Devaki stabs her in the stomach and watches her collapse. She looks into the eyes of Vimala till the latter breathes her last.

CUT TO

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL WAY - NIGHT

Devaki is walking towards the bathroom.

CUT TO

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE BATHROOM - DAY

Devaki is looking at herself in the Mirror. She looks down at the wash basin. We see her hands turn on the tap and take water in the hands--

INT. KAVERI'S HOUSE BATHROOM - NIGHT

Kaveri splashes water on to her face. She looks stressed out and sad. She is endlessly looking at herself in the mirror. We hear the water from the tap throughout.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE BATHROOM - NIGHT

We see a hand turn off the Tap. As we tilt up, we see Kaveri now (**Not Devaki in Red Saree).

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL WAY - NIGHT

We see Kaveri walking back to the hall.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE HALL - NIGHT

Kaveri is standing and looking down at the floor. We dont't see Vimala's body there. There is not even a Blood Stain. Kaveri looks STRESSED OUT & SAD here too.

Kaveri opens the Laptop and quickly browses to the pictures from hiking. There are no blood stains on the Camping tent OR the Tree OR on the Ground in any of the pictures.

Kaveri picks her phone and gets to the call registry. She redials Sathish's number. She hears the phone ringing from the First Floor room.

Kaveri is climbing towards the First Floor room

As Kaveri unlocks the First Floor room door from outside--

INT. KAVERI'S HOME MAIN ENTRANCE DOOR - DAY

The door opens and we see Sathish walk into the house. He finds something amiss since the kitchen light is on. He looks towards the room.

SATHISH

Kaveri..

INT. KAVERI'S HOUSE BATHROOM - NIGHT

Kaveri looks towards the Bathroom door hearing Sathish call out. After a moment she looks back into the mirror.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE FIRST FLOOR ROOM - DAY

We are walking in Kaveri's POV and we pass by the corpse of Vimala (Stabbed in her Stomach)--

Kaveri is walking back and away from the mirror--

Sathish is looking at something on the wall--

We are seeing what he is looking at now. It's a dart board with Vimala's photo stuck to it and a dart pierced onto it--

--We pass by the corpse of Mohan (Stabbed in the chest)--

--We finally pass by and stop at the corpse of Sathish (Stabbed in the back) lying on the floor--

Sathish is in a shock looking at the same. He turns his head towards the Bathroom--

Kaveri stumbles to sit down on the closed Commode in the bathroom.

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE FIRST FLOOR ROOM - NIGHT

Kaveri is sitting on a chair with the corpses lying on the floor in front of her. Whispering voice of the man takes over again.

WHISPERING VOICE

Kaveri--

Kaveri looks up to find the dark figure of the man holding down a Teddy Bear soft toy in his right hand like before. We only see the Toy Clearly and not him.

WHISPERING VOICE

ಗೆಲ್ಲಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನೋ ಹಠದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂತ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದಿಯಾ ನೋಡು--

As Kaveri looks at Vimala's corpse first, we see Vimala's eyes open.

VIMALA

(Still lying on the floor)

ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರಿಗಿಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪಾಪಿ ನೀನು--

Kaveri is losing it. She wipes her tears and then looks at Vimala's corpse again. The eyes are closed. As Kaveri shifts her look to Mohan's corpse, we see his eyes open.

MOHAN

(Still lying on the floor)

ಮೂರು ಜನರನ್ನ ಕೊಲೆ ಮಾಡಿದಿಯ.. You are a murderess--

SATHISH

(Still lying on the floor)

ಈ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಭಾರ ನೀನು--

Kaveri shifts her look to Sathish's corpse as she hears his voice and he continues--

SATHISH

ಬದುಕೋ ಹಕ್ಕನ್ನ ಕಳ್ಕೊಂಡಿದಿಯ..

Kaveri looks at Mohan's corpse again and back at Sathish. All their eyes are closed--

WHISPERING VOICE

ಗೆದ್ದೆ ಅನ್ನೊ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮೆನಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ದೊಡ್ಡ ರೀತೀಲೆ ಸೋತಿದಿಯ..

(Giggling)

You are a much bigger loser now--

The above voices (Schizophrenic voices) collate and get into a rhythm as we push into Kaveri who closes her eyes & loses it. As the voices get more and more disturbing, we hear loud door knocks--

SATHISH (OS)

Kaveri..

Kaveri opens her eyes since the voices go quite--

We see Sathish at the bathroom door knocking.

SATHISH

Kaveri.. ಬಾಗಿಲು ತೆಗಿ Kaveri..

(Gives a moment and knocks again)

INT. EDAKALLU ESTATE HOUSE FIRST FLOOR ROOM - NIGHT

As Sathish's door knocks and his calling continue but sound distant, we see Kaveri looking at the dark figure of the man in front of her. As she shifts her look to the right hand of the man, she finds a sharp shining knife this time instead of the soft toy.

CUT TO

INT. KAVERI'S HOUSE BATHROOM - DAY

In a close up of Kaveri's eyes we hear--

WHISPERING VOICE

ವೆನಿ... ವಿಡಿ.. ವಿಚಿ..

As we push back from the close up of the pair of eyes, we see Kaveri sitting on the closed commode in the bathroom and looking right at us. She is sweating/stressed, sad and depressed. She looks down at her right hand. We see her holding the sharp & shining knife. As the door knocks and Sathish's calling, which were distant, come back to normal and get really loud, she holds the knife up and directs it to her stomach. Just before the knife goes in--

FADE TO BLACK

A part of BGM from the previous scene coninues through the subsequent cuts.

EXT. BENGALURU - DAY

We establish the city of Bangalore in an aerial shot.

INT. HOSPITAL ALLEY - DAY

We are following a doctor with a report in his hand as he is walking through the alley.

CUT TO

INT. DOCTOR'S CABIN - DAY

DOCTOR

(As he tears a small sheet of paper and writes something on it)

ಆದಷ್ಟು ಬೇಗ.. ಈ Government Appointed Psychiatrist ಹತ್ರ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೆಂಡತಿನಾ ಕರ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗ್ಬೇಕು..

(As he hands over the sheet of paper to Sathish)

& THIS TIME.. ಯಾವಾಗ discharge ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನೊ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ.. ಅವರದ್ದಾಗಿರತ್ತೆ..

Sathish is helplessly looking at the Doctor.

DOCTOR

EXT. BANGALORE CITY - DAY

We establish the city of Bangalore with a few beautiful B Rolls

An aerial shot of a car driving through Bangalore Roads.

INT. SATHISH'S CAR - DAY

We see Sathish Driving the car. He keeps an eye on Kaveri, who is on the front passenger seat. She is in her own world and seems to be lost looking outside the window.

On the back seat of the same car, we see Mohan and Vimala who are looking outside and hence looking away from each other.

INT. PSYCHIATRIST OFFICE - DAY

SATHISH

ನನ್ನ ನೋಡಿದ್ರೆ ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಆಗ್ತ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ..

MOHAN

I want you out of my life ಅಂತ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಳು ನನಗೆ..

She hated me.. Obviously..

PSYCHIATRIST (OFF SCREEN)

(As he slides a form to Sathish)

Before we begin.. Consent Formಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ sign ಬೇಕು..

Sathish glances at the form. He takes a pen. In a close up we see him put his signature.

FADE TO BLACK

After a few moments of total silence, the song 'ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ವರ್ಷ ವನವಾಸದಿಂದ.. ಮರಳಿ ಬಂದಳು ಸೀತೆ..' from 'ಶರಪಂಜರ' plays in the background on a radio with the below text on screen.

FADE IN

INT. PSYCHIATRIST OFFICE LOBBY - DAY

We are looking at a book stand on which we see the book 'Return to Madness' along with a few Psychiatric Treatment related books. As we pan to right we see a radio similar to the one in Edakallu Estate House on which the song from Sharapanjara is playing.

CUT TO

As the song continues in the background, we are looking at a painting of a 'Black Bird in the Cage' on the wall, which is very similar to the painting in Edakallu estate house. We then see Kaveri, in a patient outfit looking at us. We later reveal her looking at the Painting.

MAN (OS)

Kaveri..

Kaveri looks back.

CUT TO

INT. PSYCHIATRIST OFFICE - DAY

Kaveri is in her own world and drinking a hot cup of green tea. We now reveal the Psychiatrist to be Adarsh Eshwarappa; the same person who Kaveri would have imagined as Film Director in the beginning. He has a calm look on his face. Kaveri is sitting across the table all alone drinking green tea and not bothered about his presence.

CUT TO

We are looking at a rough sketch of a person behind a cage on the last page of a book. We see a hand close it. As we tilt up, we see Sathish in a black shirt, concerned and looking at the Psychiatrist across the table. There are 14 red books piled up on the table.

PSYCHIATRIST

ಮೂರು ವಾರ ಅಂತ ಅನ್ಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು.. We pushed it for 14 weeks..

(Showing the books lying on the table)

ಇಲ್ಲಿರೊ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಪುಸ್ತಕದ ಪ್ರತಿ ಪುಟದಲ್ಲು.. It's pretty much the same scribbling, same sketches, same story.. Especially..

(Pointing to the book with Sathish)

ಆ ಕೊನೆಯ ಪುಟ..

CUT TO

Kaveri still has a blank stare and she looks like she does not care.

PSYCHIATRIST (OS)

This is your last chance.. ನಿಮ್ಮ Griefನ ನೀವು Share ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಬೇಕು.. ಇಲ್ಲ ಅಂದರೆ.. It will be very hard to move on Kaveri.. I hope you understand that..

CUT TO

Psychiatrist is now talking to Sathish.

PSYCHIATRIST

Schizophrenia is failure to understand what is real.. ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಇರೋದನ್ನ ಊಹೆ ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಳೋದು.. Hearing Voices.. You know all this--

We see Kaveri again with a blank stare.

PSYCHIATRIST (OS)

Devaki ಅಂದರೆ ಯಾರು.. Kaveri I am asking you..

CUT TO

PSYCHIATRIST

Who is Devaki ??

We see Satish trying to make sense of the name Devaki.

SATHISH

De.. Devakiನ..??

Sathish nods his head indicating he doesn't have a clue.

PSYCHIATRIST

(Knows the answer already)

Well.. There you go.. RealityAccept ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಳೋದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿರಾಕರಿಸೊ ಅಂಥ Patientಗಳು, ಈ ರೀತಿ ಕಾಲ್ಪನಿಕ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳನ್ನ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು Alternate Realityನಲ್ಲಿ ಬದುಕುತ್ತ.. They mess up themselves and people around them..

(Takes a moment)

ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ.. What concerns me the most ಅಂದರೆ.. Going by that sketch on the last page of everyone of these books.. ಅವರು ಹಳೆಯ ಜೀವನಾನ ಮರೆತು ಮುಂದೆ ಏನು ಅಂತ ಯೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡೊ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಪಡ್ತ ಇಲ್ಲ.. She is stuck in a loop..

Kaveri's blank look has not changed.

PSYCHIATRIST (OS)

Ok.. That's it then.. ನೀವು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಗುಣ ಆಗಿದಿರ ಅಂತ ನನಗೆ ಅನ್ನಿಸೊವರೆಗು.. ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನ discharge ಮಾಡ್ತ ಇಲ್ಲ.. ಆರು ತಿಂಗಳು.. ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷ.. ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷ.. I don't care how long it takes.. You are not going home.. Are you fine with that???

Kaveri takes the cup of green tea and takes a sip. She does not care.

SATHISH

(Almost in tears)

ಅವಳ ಈ ಪರಿಸ್ಠಿತಿಗೆ ನಾನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಾರಣ Doctor.. I want to make up for that.. ಅವಳ ಜೊತೆಗಿದ್ದು ನೋಡ್ಕೊತಿನಿ.. Every week.. Treatmentಗೆ ನಾನೆ ಕರ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬರ್ತಿನಿ.. ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಮನೆಗೆ ಕಳಿಸಿಕೊಡಿ..

PSYCHIATRIST

There is no place for emotions here Sathish.. ಅವರು ಮತ್ತೆ Suicide ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಳೋದಕ್ಕೆ Attempt ಮಾಡೋದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂತ ನಾನು guarantee ಕೊಡೋದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗೋದಿಲ್ಲ.. She might harm you too.. ನಿಮ್ಮ situation ನನಗೆ ಅರ್ಥ ಆಗುತ್ತೆ but I am bound by the law.. ಏನಾದರು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಆದರೆ I will be answerable.. So

(As he closes Kaveri's file and keeps it in the drawer)

ಸಧ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರನ್ನ discharge ಮಾಡೋದು.. Out of question.. She has to be under a strict supervision..

(Takes a moment)

I am sorry..

Sathish is sitting with a miserable look on his face.

INT. MENTAL HOSPITAL ALLEY - DAY

We are looking at Kaveri walk away from us, in a long shot towards her ward.

We are now looking at Sathish, wearing a black shirt, at the entrance, helplessly looking at his wife parting from him. The expression on his face is clearly reflecting the pain in his heart.

As we are looking at Sathish, the bars at the entrance are closed on his face, like he is in a cage.

CUT TO

INT. KAVERI'S WARD (MENTAL HOSPITAL) - DAY

We are looking at Kaveri with her head hanging down. She is on her bed with the dinner table in front of her, but there is nothing on the table.

Kaveri raises her head and looks at us. She pretends like she has a wine glass in her hand. Kaveri further pretends to enjoy the fragrance of the imaginary wine in the imaginary glass. She then takes a sip from her imaginary glass & takes time to enjoy the taste. She keeps her imaginary glass down and looks at us & gives a sarcastic smile.
