Help! Scrite is crashing all the time 😰

It has come to our attention that Version 0.9.4a and a few other versions before that have an issue. Many users have complained that the app doesn’t launch anymore even after updating it several times.

This issue has been discussed on Discord in this thread and two solutions have been presented. These solutions have already been used by other users and they have confirmed that it does indeed address the issue.

Solution #1: Reset Scrite Settings

The first solution involves resetting Scrite settings, so that the Scrite app re-initializes itself from scratch, however you will have to login to your account once again which is a quick process.

For this, you can follow the instructions below depending on the OS you use.

macOS

Launch the Terminal app and execute the following commands

cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/Scrite/Scrite
mv settings.ini settings.old

Launch (or restart) the Scrite app, and now login to your account once again. The app should work exactly as it did before.

Windows

Open Windows File Explorer and in the Address Bar enter the following path.

%APPDATA%\Scrite\Scrite

Here, rename the settings.ini file to settings.old.

Launch (or restart) the Scrite app, and now login to your account once again. The app should work exactly as it did before.

Solution #2: Install the latest nightly build

This issue has been fixed in the latest nightly build. You can simply download and install the nightly build and watch the issue disappear, without having to let go of your settings.
