Today, we’re excited to share some significant news about the future of Scrite, including the launch of the 1.0 version and important updates to our pricing model.
Introducing Scrite 1.0
First and foremost, we’re thrilled to announce that Scrite 1.0 will be launching before the end of this year. This major update represents a significant milestone in our journey to provide screenwriters with an affordable industry-standard, intuitive, and feature-rich writing tool.
Scrite 1.0 is the culmination of countless hours of development, user feedback, and our unwavering commitment to creating the best possible tool for screenwriters.
Transitioning to a Paid Model
As we finally move out of beta, we’re also implementing a change that we’ve previously discussed with our community. With the launch of version 1.0, Scrite will be transitioning to a paid model. We understand that this is a significant change, and we want to take a moment to explain our reasoning.
Scrite continues to be an open-source project with its full source code available on GitHub. We provide pre-built binaries on this website for ease of use. Support and services against paid subscription plans are only provided for users of pre-built binaries only, provided they agree to the terms of use outlined in this page. Why the Change?
The decision to move to a paid model wasn’t made lightly. As Scrite has grown and evolved, so too have the resources required to maintain, improve, and expand its capabilities. By introducing a paid model, we can:
- Ensure continuous development and improvement of Scrite
- Provide better support and resources for our users
- Invest in new features and capabilities that will enhance your screenwriting experience
- Maintain the stability and security of the platform
Most importantly, this change allows us to keep Scrite accessible and affordable for writers at all levels, from aspiring screenwriters to seasoned professionals.
Pricing Details
We’ve carefully considered our pricing structure to ensure that Scrite remains an excellent value for screenwriters worldwide. Our primary consideration was to keep the pricing affordable and allow users to try out Scrite for free before they make a purchase decision.
Here’s a breakdown of our new pricing model:
Regular Pricing
- India Writers: ₹1,999 per year
- International Writers: $29 per year
Special Offer for Beta Users
As a token of our appreciation for our early supporters, beta users who signed up before the launch of version 1.0 will enjoy a significant discount on their first-year subscription:
- India: ₹999 (first year only)
- International: $19 (first year only)
At launch, all international users will be able to pay for their subscription in USD. We’re working on adding support for more currencies in the future to make the process even more convenient for our global user base.
Important Details About Your Subscription
We want to ensure complete transparency about how the new subscription model will work:
- All new and existing users will receive a one-month free trial of Scrite 1.0. This gives you ample time to explore the new features and decide if the paid version is right for you.
- Plans do not auto-renew. You’ll need to resubscribe at the end of each year. This puts you in control of your subscription and ensures you’re never caught off guard by an unexpected renewal.
- The price is inclusive of all taxes, so there are no hidden fees or additional charges.
- For our Indian users, GST invoices are available upon request, making it easy to manage your expenses.
We want to emphasize that our goal with this pricing model is to strike a balance between sustainability for Scrite and affordability for our users. By introducing this paid model, we can ensure Scrite’s continued development and support while keeping it accessible to writers at all levels.
We believe that writers should not be hindered by the cost of tools, and we’re committed to maintaining this philosophy as we grow.
Looking Ahead
Your support through this transition will directly contribute to the ongoing evolution of Scrite, helping us create an even more powerful and user-friendly screenwriting environment.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and trust in our software. Your feedback has been a critical factor behind Scrite’s development, and we’re honoured to be part of your screenwriting journey.
If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback about these changes, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. You can connect with us on our Discord community or send an email to support@scrite.io. We’re here to listen and to ensure that your experience with Scrite continues to be exceptional.
