Terms Of Use

Welcome to Scrite!

These Terms of Use (“TERMS”) govern your access and use of Scrite, a screenwriting software provided by IEDN Technologies Private Limited, India (“COMPANY,” “WE,” “OUR,” or “US”).

By downloading, installing, or using Scrite, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the software.

1. License

Scrite is an open-source project distributed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). The complete source code is available on our GitHub Repository (https://github.com/teriflix/scrite). You are free to download, modify, and distribute your own variants of the software, provided that you comply with the terms of the GPL as outlined in https://github.com/teriflix/scrite/blob/master/LICENSE.txt.

2. Subscription Plans

Scrite moved out of public beta and into production on 15th January 2025. From that date, WE may offer a time-limited trial period for new users, during which time you can access almost all features of Scrite.

Access to a free trial of Scrite is not guaranteed and is offered at our sole discretion. WE reserve the right to limit, restrict, or deny free trial access to any user or device at any time, without notice or explanation. Continued or repeated misuse of the free trial may result in permanent denial of trial access. Certain information may be required to activate a free trial, and failure to provide valid information will result in trial access being withheld.

If and when a free trial is made available to you, you will have the opportunity to test the app and ensure it works well on your computer. After the trial period, continued use of the software will require a paid subscription plan. The following terms apply to all paid subscriptions, regardless of whether a free trial was availed.

The price and complete description of each subscription plan including a list of features, allowed device count and duration will be enumerated within the app. Upon launching paid subscription plans, the existing public betas may stop functioning. By activating and/or subscribing, you agree to the terms outlined in this document. Access to premium features is contingent upon the use of the official, untampered binaries provided by US on this website (https://www.scrite.io).

Please Note: WE do not service or support binaries created by third parties from OUR source code, even if they have not modified it. Subscription benefits apply only to the latest version of official binaries offered by US on this website.

3. Precompiled Binaries

WE offer precompiled binaries of Scrite for specific versions and architectures of Linux, Windows, and macOS. While you are free to build and distribute your own versions of the software from the source code, you agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the precompiled binaries offered by US.
  • Publish or distribute the precompiled binaries in any form without prior written consent from US.

Please note: custom builds, whether done you or a third party, will not be entitled for any support or service, even if you are a paid subscriber.

4. Intellectual Property

The Scrite name, logo, and any associated branding elements are the exclusive property of IEDN Technologies Private Limited. This does not extend to the source code, which is governed by the GPLv3. Unauthorized use of our trademarks or branding is strictly prohibited.

5. Transfer of Commercial Operations

Effective 1st June 2026, the commercial operations of Scrite, including all existing subscriptions and associated rights and obligations, have been transferred from VCreate Logic Private Limited to IEDN Technologies Private Limited, India. All existing subscriber rights, entitlements, and obligations remain fully intact under this transfer. Your continued use of Scrite constitutes your acceptance of IEDN Technologies Private Limited as the new contracting party under these Terms.

6. Third-Party Material and Websites

Scrite may contain links to third-party websites and resources. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, WE are not responsible for the availability or content of these external sites, and WE do not endorse or assume any ownership or liability for the content, products, or services provided by third parties. Any reliance on information or services provided by external links is at your own risk.

7. Data and Privacy

WE do not process or store any of your scripts, screenplays, or other content created using Scrite. You are solely responsible for the safe and secure sharing, storage, and retrieval of your content. The COMPANY is not responsible for any data loss, theft, or corruption of your content. Please ensure that you maintain backups of your work.

WE only collect activity logs to improve product functionality, and this is done only if you grant us permission. For more details on how WE collect, use, and protect this information, please refer to our Privacy Policy (https://www.scrite.io/index.php/privacy-policy/).

8. Updates and Changes

WE may update Scrite from time to time, including adding or removing features. These updates may not be automatic and may require you to update manually. Please note that in the process of updates, certain platforms or features that were previously supported may no longer be available.

WE reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, with or without notice. Continued use of the software after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

9. Support and Availability

Scrite requires access to the Internet to connect to our web services for activation and periodic updates of access tokens. If Scrite is unable to connect to the Internet and access these services, certain features, or sometimes the whole product itself, may become locked or unavailable.

While WE strive to keep our web services available and functioning at all times, there may be instances of downtime or service interruptions that could disrupt your use of Scrite. WE are not liable for any inconvenience or loss caused by such disruptions.

Technical support is available for users of our official binaries and subscription plans. However, we do not provide support for custom builds generated by third parties.

Support can be requested on our Discord community, where users can post questions, report bugs, and seek assistance. Subscribers of certain paid plans also have the option to seek support via email by writing to support@scrite.io, provided the email is sent from the ID used for their subscription. WE aim to respond to support queries within ten business days.

NOTE: Currently we do not offer support over phone, or in person.

NOTE: While WE are committed to providing support for all reported issues, we cannot guarantee specific turnaround times for issue resolution or that every issue will be resolved.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

Scrite is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. WE do not claim that any of the features offered by the product are free of bugs, errors, or vulnerabilities, nor do WE guarantee that the software will be foolproof or meet your expectations.

You acknowledge and agree that you use Scrite at your own risk. WE make no warranties, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the software will be error-free or operate without interruptions.

While we strive to offer support and service to address your queries and feature requests, we may not be able to resolve all issues or implement all requests.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IEDN Technologies Private Limited shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from your use of Scrite, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. This includes but is not limited to loss of data, profits, or business interruption.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless IEDN Technologies Private Limited and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses, including legal fees, arising out of your use of Scrite or violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

WE reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to Scrite at our discretion, without notice, for any violation of these Terms. Upon termination, the license granted to you will cease, and you must uninstall and stop using the software.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bengaluru, India.
