Version 2 – First Beta

With the next version of Scrite, we bring in a fresh set of features, and breakthrough performance improvements which have been long pending. In this page, we outline the key changes in the new version.

Its Beta, not Production yet!

Version 2.0 is still actively under development, and we are not ready to roll it out for general use just yet. As of today we are making version 1.9.9-beta available. We invite you to download these builds from the nightly builds folder and help us with feedback and testing.

While its possible to work on your existing Scrite documents, we recommend doing so on a copy so that you have a backup always available. Beta releases may not be stable, and in some cases not have feature parity with the current production release. Please expect hiccups 🙂

Should you try out the beta?

If you are someone who loves to try out bleeding edge software, knowing that the product may have multiple issues, then we would invite you to go for it.

While you can always switch back to the production release, we recommend that you use the beta on a separate device. This also means that it would be ideal if your subscription allows use of Scrite on multiple devices at once. Even otherwise, you should be able to logout from one and activate another.

So, what’s new?

Well, we have a video that explains several key new features you can find in the latest beta. Please note that this video is not a product explainer, but rather an informal video.

Please post first-impressions with screenshots, including feedback, bug-reports, and questions on the
beta-releases channel in our Discord community. We hope you like what we have created, and look forward to hearing from you.
