One of the top contenders in the best original screenplay category at the 2024 Academy Awards, The Holdovers, a comedy-drama, missed out to the French legal drama, Anatomy of a Fall.
Written by David Hemingson, the film is semi-autobiographical as per his own admission. It follows the journey of a strict classics teacher a New England boarding school who, due to his is forced to chaperone a handful of students with nowhere to go on the Christmas break.
