Greta Gerwig’s 2023 blockbuster, Barbie, was an instant global hit grossing well over USD 1 billion worldwide, and created many records along the way.
The movie script, which is based on Mattel’s legacy IP, was interpreted uniquely by writers Greta Gerwig and Noah Baubach, who gave it a satirical treatment exploring the theme of body image and its impact on self-esteem.
The story is about Barbie, the most popular Barbies in Barbieland, who experiences an existential crisis and must travel to the human world to understand herself better and discover her true purpose.
